This "missing" feature is a critical missing option that was available with box sync. Dropbox has this feature which in my mind is not really a feature but a fundamental and necessary component of this kind of file sharing program. I want to use only one file sharing system but do NOT want all my file and folder names accessible on each computer on which I have Box installed. Pictures of my fishing trip should not be visible on my work desktop while meeting notes from a committee I am on do not need to clutter my home desktop computer. THus I recommend not only instating a hide/show option but also to allow it to be customized for each computer using a particular box account,

I am the supervisor of a team of 8 people. It's company policy that I have access to all their files. However, I NEVER look at them unless there is a major problem with something. And I mean, in 5 years, I've NEVER opened any of them. With Drive, I now have to negotiate through them to get to the 4 folders I use DAILY.

One of the reasons we don't use Google was the customizable organization that each user had with Box Sync. I love the functionality of Drive, but having to scroll down to a folder that I use daily through never used folders is really making me consider shifting everyone to Google since there is much easier editing functionality with that platform. I have the option to make certain folders available offline. It only seems that the functionality to hide certain folders from off line would be there too.

Please add this functionality. I have folders and files on Box.com that I do not need to see on Box Drive on my machine.

We have received this request from a researcher. They have some instrumentation tied to a machine with Drive installed to write the results to Box. When a cycle of the testing is done they want that folder hidden so thee is no chance that a previous cycle's results will be overwritten by a future cycle.

I didn't go into details. I would have thought they'd need to rename folders to identify testing cycles anyway, but they seemed to think it was an issue. I can see where you wouldn't feel entirely comfortable with the possibility that it could get overwritten and not have someone there to notice it.

Few of our customers requested the ability to hide folders as they hold sensitive information that is visible anytime they open Box. This is a critical breach for them from a business point as they can display anything to customers if they can be exposed to other customers names, etc.

Even though this is the point of Box Drive, to show you all of what you have on the web, I agree. Most users only have 4-5 folders actually synced out of the 100+ folders they are collaborators on. It's pretty annoying to have all that noise show on their devices, especially if they only go into some of those folders once a year. God I hope Box sync never goes away.

Another use case for Hiding folders specifically from Box Drive, though it might be useful to hide them in the web interface as well is "Administratively Shared directories".
For example we have a folder of Support Ticket information, you don't want to confuse employees with having that show up in Box drive, but you do want to be able to access it for a script. You are having an employee run a logging script that captures information to the local drive. To ease data collection you could have the script capture it's logs to Box Drive.

As a side effect this could in some way be used to mirror favorites into Box Drive?

I agree with the comments below. People have added me to folders that I need to access to, but often times once a year. I use 2 folders on a weekly/daily basis and it is too tedious to sift through 20 other folders to access them.

PLEASE change this!!! Either Hide/Show or be able to prioritize the folders by use.

This is a MUST. Even after removing myself as a collaborator from folders, I'm STILL seeing them (and can even access them) from my PC with Box Drive. I can't imagine that is intended behavior. This would mean that even if I remove someone else as a collaborator, they'd still be able to access my Box files if they'd installed Box Drive beforehand?

I am researching this topic for my boss. He recently switched from Sync to Drive. He is always having issues with hard drive space on his laptop. He only wants access to a few folders via Box Drive. The ability to pick and choose folders would be very helpful. He can always get additional files through Box.com.
