  1. COPY / MOVE API events to include origin file's ID, name and location

Currently there is no way to know which file was copied/moved in Box Events API. It is only possible to see the destination file name and location, and only if the file was copied/moved within one Box instance. This presents a major challenge for customers who want to build custom programs that monitor copy/move activity both inside and outside their Box instances.

  2. Convert comment to task

Comments in Box Preview are helpful, but sometimes need to be able to be converted into tasks. Rather than creating a new entry, it would be helpful to right-click or use a dropdown to convert the existing comment into a task automatically.

  3. Please include a list of hard/soft limitations on the BoxSupport page, as described in "Product and API Scale Guidelines"

Please include a list of hard/soft limitations on the BoxSupport page, as described in "Product and API Scale Guidelines".
This information is currently available on request.
However, hard/soft limits are variable information and you will need to request information on a regular basis.
When obtaining the information on an request basis, there is a time lag before the contents are known.
We always want to get the latest information independently ourselves, so we would like Box Support to keep us up to date with the latest informations.

  4. Department Folder Auto Provisioning and Updating

When enterprise needs to provision and update department folders, Box Admins or each folder owners would need to manually create, configure and update folders according to the organizational structure and would need to manually invite/remove all the necessary collaborators.

We would want to have a native feature in Box to allow such folder provisioning and updating by importing CSV file that contains folder names, structures and collaborators.

  5. Please add Linux to the support for Box.

    【Background】
As we use many Linux servers, the total size of the log files is also large.
Please add Linux as supported, as we want to save the log files stored on the Linux server to the Box.

    【Request】
    Box does not support Linux.
In the past it was possible to access the Box via WebDAV, but this is no longer supported.
Please add Linux to the support for Box.
It would be preferable if it could be mounted like WebDav.
If the folder on the Box can be mounted on Linux, the application can simply change the specification of…

  8. Downloading from websites.

There should be a direct way to download a webpage into Box. I can directly download into Google Drive but not Box. Box requires a 2-step process. First I need to download to my device and then I can upload to Box.

  9. "inactive" or "archive" flag maps to less-expensive storage

    FEATURE IDEA:
Provide ability to flag/classify files and folders in a way that allows Box to move them to a less-expensive storage offering on the back-end. This can be referred to as an "inactive" or "archive" flag.

    BENEFITS & BACKGROUND

During the Box Higher Education Community Monthly Open Discussion on January 11th, an idea to submit to Box Pulse was formed, and seemed to have support from all in attendance (25-30 institutions).

Box acknowledges that there is a growing concern around constantly increasing storage, and the costs associated with it. The majority of files stored in Box are perceived (or…

  10. Copied photos do not carry any of the comments made on the original file.

Comments that I have added to photos do not remain when I copy those photos to other folders within box. This is terrible as I now have to go through all of the copied photos for a second time and manually add all the comments that are associated with the original picture files.

    Please fix this.

  11. I want to be able to upload/stream data in real time to a secure Box folder

Drone operators, Tik Tok users, event planners, wildlife professionals, military training heads, aircraft pilots -- off the top of my head, these are just a few great uses for streaming media files in real time directly to a secure Box folder. Omit the extra, less-secure step of capturing material on a mobile device (laptop, outdoor camera, phone, and so on), and then uploading it to Box. And never worry about the camera, phone, or other device holding your precious content failing or becoming lost before you've had a chance to view/upload the data.

  12. Moving shared folders should be simple and not involve changing ownership

Many people in my organization share folders with me. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ends up in my top-level directory. But some should be in one folder and some in another. I should be able to move any shared folder, even ones I am not a collaborator on, to ANY place in my directory structure without changing the physical storage space and without worrying about ownership. Why should the sharer have a right to clutter up my top-level directory with so many folders? It's pages and pages of stuff on the web interface. Since the real data is physically stored…

  13. File uploads are extremely slow.

File uploads are extremely slow. For example, a group of 3 x 20Mb files might take an entire day to upload on a 5mb.s connection. This has happened in the past 3-4 weeks.
I found the root cause of it. I am in New Zealand and redirected to the Tokyo server, which is very very slow. I verified that this upload path is an issue thus:
Tried to upload a 20Mb file using browser (via Tokyo) - 2 hrs later the file was at 20% upload. Cancelled the upload.
Connected a VPN onto Los Angeles. Uploaded the same file (and…

  16. upload speed limit

There should be a possibility to limit the upload speed in order to still being able to work during the upload of larger files. Currently there is no possibility to limit the upload speed which leads to Box using all my upload bandwidth.

  17. Ability to restict folder view to only show folders the user owns

Allow ability to restrict folder view to ONLY those folders which the user owns. Either a separate view or something like a checkbox to enable/disable the restriction.

For example, a user is leaving the company and wants to transfer ownership of their folders to another user. There is no easy way to see what folders you own. With hundreds of folders it could take a long time to find the ones you know to transfer them.

  18. Removing Selected Subfolders

I am a software developer, and I use Box so that I can access my code at work and at home. If there is a folder called Project1 with my solution files in it, the act of opening that solution or building that solution will create both a "bin" and an "obj" folder that both contain several hundred megabytes of data that does not need to be sync'ed. When I stop debugging and change the code to run it again, now I have 2 copies of nearly identical data still being pushed up to the cloud and being downloaded by…

  19. Add non-client usage tracking

I often give out links to content in my box.com account. It would be great if you kept track of how often the content was actually accessed. For instance, number of clicks per link per day including whether item was previewed only or downloaded.

  20. Ability to request a bulk download of data sent to us via hard-drive .

Allow us to request a bulk download of our data which Box would fulfill at their technical support center. This would enable us to receive multiple Terabytes of data without bogging down our corporate network or using applications which are prone to download failures. The data would be stored on hard-drives or solid state drives either purchased through box or sent to box to fulfill the request
