Copy API to allow copying files from a managed users account to the admin account of the caller
There is no API action to copy or download files that is invisible from the user who owns the content. When copying files, there is no way to copy the files from a users account to the admin account (so that the copy of these files can then be reviewed and downloaded by compliance teams without creating access stats on the original file).
An alternative was to directly download the files from the users account however there is no way to not create access stats when doing so.
I am therefore suggesting the download endpoint have an added input for…

Modifications to Folder Name/Description in Event Stream
We are concerned that Editors can change the name or description of folders. Therefore, we are asking for an event in the stream to notify when this occurs so we can revert the changes back to historical values.

Just in time User Provisioning / Licensing
The current way of licensing is old school. Instead, you could leverage Okta's just-in-time provisioning: https://help.okta.com/en/prev/Content/Topics/Security/Security_Authentication.htm?cshid=Security_Authentication_JIT#Security_Authentication_JIT
Then (with SSO required & on the fly), Box grants everyone in an org an acct after logging in thru SSO, they're auto-provisioned a Box instance, and a license is registered/"billed" to company.

Customization of error message in Azure
With other providers, it is possible to customize the error message that users get when they are invited to create a Box account without being part of a security group and having auto-rolling on.
As the error message creates a lot of confusion, it would be great if we could replace the message with something customized in order to give clear instructions to the users as to what steps need to be taken to create a new Box account with that particular email domain.

We will reconsider with additional use cases.

Provide event trigger for renaming a file for webhooks.
Create a script to automatically rename files that have had their name changed. This would be easier if there was an event trigger so that we could proactively run the script using a web hook.
We can run a script once a day or something to do this based on a lookup table with folder IDs and the names we are SUPPOSED to have.

Trashed items: include details about the deleter
When a user makes a GET call for all trashed items, the response does not include details (name/user ID) of the user who trashed each item. This is inconsistent with the Web App view of a user's trash. The Web App view includes the name of the item deleter.

FTP not available to external users for Enterprise accounts.
Currently FTP for Box is only available to Business and Enterprise accounts for bulk migration of data. It is not available for Personal accounts (Free or Pro).
This is problematic for Enterprise users that have external vendors, partners, customers (collaborators) that need to upload a large data set to their Enterprise account through FTP.
Since these external collaborators are Free users, they do not have access to FTP but are still collaborating with us.
REQUEST: Add support for FTP uploads for external collaborators that are specifically collaborating with a paying Enterprise Box account?

Automatically change file modified date upon upload if modified date is out of range and upload fails
We are trying to upload files that have a modified date of year 1600. We would like for Box to automatically change the modified date upon upload instead of the upload failing
If files have a modified date outside the UNIX range (1970-2038), the upload will fail.
1 voteThank you for the submission. There are no current plans to change this behavior for this individual use case. We will reconsider with additional demand.

Receive notification when transfer of content is completed
When deleting and transferring content to another user and an error is thrown, it is not clear to the user when all the content has successfully been moved due to the error message thrown.
We would like to know when all the content has finally completed so we can delete the user without any concerns.

Split API traffic using BVE
As a customer using BVE, we would like to apply network controls to Box API traffic.

Differentiate between Create Files and Create Folders in Collaborator level permissions
For certain cases, we want to be able to allow internal and/or external collaborators to be able to upload/create a file but NOT be able to create a new subfolder.

We have data residency requirements for China.

The ability to perform advanced searches despite having KeySafe enabled.
They are open to, similar to the KeySafe concept, having a way to plug Box search into their own index.

Editor Only Permissions Access
We are looking for a way to limit a user so she can not add new documents to a folder but is able to edit documents already in the folder.
The granular nature of your platform is so fantastic, and this nuance would make it even better. After all, just because I share a folder populated with documents that I want edited by other people doesn't not mean I want those same editors to bloat my folders with extraneous files.
There is strong use-case for this. Call it the Edit Only privilege.
0 votesThank you for the request! I believe this would add to the complexity of the product without providing wide enough benefit. I’m happy to review further use cases and demand in the comments.

Usage Logs - Better Reporting when Shared Link Permissions are Changed
Right now you can see WHEN a user changed the value of a shared link (closed to open for example) but not to what, so if a link was changed, we have to guess as to what level of access. This seems like a gap security wise and may lead to us shutting down shared links.
14 votesWe are still looking to understand what sort of information customers would like to see in the Usage Logs regarding Shared Link Permissions.
