Add 'Released Holds' Section to Legal Holds UI
Currently, there's no way (aside from digging through Box events) to look at Legal Hold policies that have been 'released'.
This means that once a user clicks 'Release' on a hold, there's no UI for that hold anymore whatsoever.
Digging through unique events in Usage Logs is not an answer to 'show me the holds that we've released - I want to take a quick look at the holds the team has been releasing recently'.
REQUEST: Add a 'Released Holds' section to the bottom of the existing Legal Holds UI in the Admin Console.
1 voteThank you for your suggestion.
We explored this during our initial investigations, and our customers told us they did not want record of prior holds in this view, thus potentially implicating them in still being responsible for the litigation.
This is not planned work but may be reconsidered if there is a ton of customer feedback to the contrary.

Longer log retention period for Legal Holds
Box retains log data for a year, but we need longer log retention period for Legal Holds.

Version number in Legal Holds Report
Legal Holds Report includes "File Version ID", but this value is like "109680448118".
We have to call APIs to get the actual version number. It's more useful to include "sequence_id" in Legal Holds Report.
3 votesThank you for the submission! This is not work we have scoped in the near term, but will reconsider with additional customers supporting this suggestion.

Admin report or interface showing exactly where in a given file the Upload Policy was violated.
We are leveraging the Policies engine to create Upload Policies to detect and prevent PII from being uploaded into Box. When the upload policy exception is triggered, we would like to see a report or somewhere on the screen exactly where in the document the file violated the policy.
Ideally, by knowing what exactly triggered the policy, we would then use the 'Mark as False Positive' feature in the Content Manager Quarantine location to improve the Policy Engine's accuracy accordingly.

Manage Quarantine Programmatically (via API)
There is no way to manage the quarantine process programmatically. As a result, we must individually release / delete quarantined files via the UI.
Given that the policies have a tendency to generate false positives, this process becomes very time consuming and difficult to manage and requires valuable IT time to click buttons (often for hours).
At our scale, and since we opt to use DLP policies, it's impossible to manage.

Legal holds based on keywords
Use Case: General Counsel gets subpoenaed to turn over all content related to specific words or phrases

This is an interesting request! However, we have not prioritized it in the short term.
With additional customer feedback, we may reconsider in the future.

While this is a very understandable request, most customers are using a third-party eDiscovery tool and therefore we’d like to focus on higher and broader impact features.

Unified/Global 'All Trash' View
In larger companies, Content Manager's organization of trash (by Owner) and searching through Usage Logs are both overly cumbersome when looking for a file that a user has 'lost' (aka that's been deleted).
To ease this pain, please build a unified/consolidated/global 'All Trash' view added somewhere in the Admin Console -- likely in Content Manager.
From that view, an admin would be able to see:
1. File/folder name
2. Date deleted
3. Owner
4. Deleted by (user)
5. Option to permanently delete or restore18 votesThis is not planned at this time.

Change Co-Admin Permission to Only Require 'View & Edit Policies'
Right now, in order for a co-admin to be able to view and edit Legal Hold policies (matters), they need a weird mix of unintuitive co-admin permissions (including 'view users content').

Prohibit that an external collaborator deletes files
When some user invites an external collaborator as "Editor" to some folder, the external user can delete any files in the folder. The deleted file is sent to the external collaborator's trash. It's not good for some security-centric customer, so they need the function to prohibit that an external collaborator deletes files to protect their assets.
5 votesThis should be managed through our existing permissions framework rather than a specific policy. If an external user deletes a file, it also lives in the owner’s trash folder who is a managed user in this instance.

Upload policies catching too many false positives
137 files flagged so far today for Social Security Violation. Here is the warning information: File attached.
I am getting so many false positives that I would need a team to look at every single file that gets flagged. The scanning engine is terrible. Please escalate to your internal dev group so it can get fixed.

Ability to customize download policy thresholds
Currently the policy thresholds are automatically set by our algorithms, and the policy is triggered on a per minute rate basis and one hour time window. This has caused alert fatigue for the customer because so many notifications are generated every few minutes based on these thresholds that they aren't able to update or customize.
9 votesWe will be looking at how to reduce the noise but it might not be through enabling customization.

Reports: Replace User ID in the Legal Hold Report with User's Email
In the current Legal Hold report export (Excel file), users are referred to by their User ID (e.g., 123233124) which isn't really helpful for an admin to identify 'who' that is.
Using email address would be a much better field to include, either replacing the User ID field OR adding in Email as an additional column.

While the request here is clear, this is not planned on our roadmap. The workaround would be to alert a set of admins on the account and have them deactivate or make the user inactive.

Customize Upload Policy Email Notifications
Ability to add customized logos, hyperlinks, and change the text of the notification email so it makes more sense for our organization.
As the notification stands now, it's generic and we want to make it more descriptive.

Allow owners to permanently delete content even if it is in a folder that is under retention policy.
Allow owners to permanently delete content even if it is in a folder that is under retention policy.
Legal would like owners to have the ability to still purge content when necessary (without moving the content to a different folder).
0 votesWhile we have considered retention policies that do not block early deletion, this is not something we plan on pursuing right now.
The original purpose behind retention was to support highly regulated use cases. With more customers requested this “non-regulatory mode”, this may become prioritized later.

When the Allow Content to be Deleted by Users option is selected, allow admin to customize follow-up reminders
For a retention policy, the retention notification is sent to the owner 14 days prior to the expiration date. It looks like this is the only reminder the owner receives.
REQUEST: When the Allow Content to be Deleted by Users option is selected, all admin to customize follow-up reminders to the Owner/Co-Owners once the retention period has passed. This option does not auto-delete the content so reminders would help ensure that they review the file and delete if necessary.
1 voteThis is an interesting use case. We will re-consider this work if we find it has a large impact on a substantial amount of our users.
