Box Drive: Change cache location
It would be really awesome to allow the box drive cache location to be placed somewhere other than C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Box\Box\cache, say on on a separate volume that doesn't consume space on C: (boot / application drive). Ideally I would like to place it on my second ssd D:

We are currently not planning to implement this feature and will continue to prevent all Box Drive results from appearing in Explorer/Finder searches.
Box Drive does not download the all of the metadata (File name, folder structure, etc.) of your Box content. Instead, it is downloaded on demand and then evicted when it is no longer relevant. This eviction process is not visible to users and it is not easily predictable. This would cause the search results in Explorer/Finder to be inconsistent for users – sometimes they would find a file and other times they may not if the metadata and file were evicted.
We have chosen not to download all of the metadata (and then keep it up to date with changes) as this can result in a large performance, storage and bandwidth tax which is not scalable – especially in environments where users interface with millions of files/folders.

Ability to see and access bookmarks in Box Drive
Bookmarks: I store a lot of bookmarks in Box. This bookmarks are not visible in the folder structure on my laptop (links seems not to be stored as files). As a consequence e.g. bookmark titles are only searchable via Box browser interface but not via Windows search functionality within explorer

Box Drive (Windows) - Remember folder view settings
We’ve been using Box Drive since launch, and it’s been an incredible improvement in our workflow. Only a small issue has made it notably less useful in saving time, and is a known issue documented here (community.box.com/t5/Box-Drive-Known-Issues..)
Our file name and directory lengths are wider than the default for Box Drive/Windows. Normally Windows remembers preferences around column width, but in this case, as you know, Box Drive does not. This causes us to have to manually resize the “Name” field in every folder/directory, every time we access one. Therefore each user is having to do this perhaps dozens of times…

Jump to the same path on Box Drive directly from Box Web
Like Dropbox app, we would like a capability to move directly from Box Web to Box Drive. The usecase behind this is that we want to edit a file from Box Drive not Box Edit but want to search on Box Web.

Expose Favorites in Box Drive
Favorites are becoming more and more popular now that they're better exposed (in the left rail) in the new Web App.
As such, users expect to access their Favorites list regardless of which endpoint they're using - webapp (supported), mobile (supported), or desktop (not supported via Sync or Box for Desktop).
REQUEST: Add a 'Favorites' view to Box for Desktop content (somehow) that allows the user to view only their Favorites (files + folders) just like they do in the webapp.

Select folders to sync
Select folders to sync with Box Drive rather than having to sync all folders.
158 votesThanks for the feedback! Users already have the ability to selectively sync (mark content for offline access) today in Box Drive. What I believe you’re asking for is a curated view of content you select to show up in Box Drive. That’s something we’re considering as we think about how to solve the content sprawl issue in Box Drive.

My Collections on Box Drive
Just wondering you may develop 'My Collections' function on Box Drive.
156 votesThanks for the suggestion! We are looking at how to improve content sprawl on Drive. We will be considering Collections as a possible path (among other options), but don’t have a change planned in the near-term.

Box Drive performance improvement request when using VDI
The VDI is experiencing operational delays when using Box Drive, and this is affecting our business.
It was found that the delay was caused by a large number of disk I/Os.
We checked the Box Drive logs and found that Box was reflecting 1,000 to 2,000 operation logs on Box to each user every morning.
Since the above operations occur simultaneously for all users, there is a large load on the infrastructure.
Please improve performance.(Japanese)
133 votesThanks for reaching out! We advise that you send this bug message with your logs to the support team. We will be able to triage effectively through this process. Enhanced Lock/Unlock on Box Drive for CAD files

Syncing bookmarks and Windows shortcuts between Box Drive and online.
To better organize my personal Box files and share with teams, I've saved my files in the team folder and used a Windows shortcut (in Box Drive) in my personal Box folder to link files/folders elsewhere on Box. Box Drive doesn't sync Window's shortcuts so these links are lost when working online. The workaround online is to use the bookmark function, using file/folder URLs to create shortcuts. It would be great if bookmarks or window's shortcuts synced between online and Box Drive modes. At the moment I'm having to bookmark online and shortcut on Drive to link up files and…

Support Windows folder redirection with Box Drive
This is supported in Box Sync: https://community.box.com/t5/Box-Sync/For-Admins-Redirect-quot-My-Documents-quot-Folder-to-Box-Sync/ta-p/20656
110 votesThis is not technically possible with the current non-persistent architecture of Box Drive.
When the ‘Box’ folder disappears (whens users quit, update, log out) Windows folder redirection creates a new ‘Box’ folder to continue to redirect content. This forks the redirection out of Box Drive.
Workarounds have been investigated heavily, but the cost to implement is too large to commit to the roadmap now.

Box Drive should preview files in windows explorer or Finder
There is a feature in Windows Explorer that allows you to enable a preview pane that previews the contents of files inside of the explorer window. This does not work on files that are in Box Drive even for files that have been opened before.
96 votesThis is a feature we would love to get to, but unfortunately it is not on our short term roadmap. Please continue adding your feedback!

I would like shortcut files created on Box Drive to be reflected on Box Web as well.
I am aware that shortcut files (.lnk) created in Box Drive (on Explorer) are ignored as a file type and cannot be synchronized.
However, in my work, I use Box Drive a lot and sometimes create shortcuts, but I can't share them because they are not synced, and they are deleted when I log out of the system.
I feel this kind of specification is very inconvenient.
I would love to see you respond to make this happen.(Japanese)
95 votes -
A snapshot of contents within a Box drive folder
Have you ever looked at a top-level Box folder and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to dig through and drill down to every sub-folder just to know what the contents are?
Do you get discouraged at the thought of looking for a single file that could possibly exist way down the rabbit hole of Box folders and sub-folders?
Would you rather have the ability to glance at a snapshot of an entire Box folder and all the sub-folders and files that exist within it?
A simple yet effective solution is a "tree directory" view. This is a feature…
93 votesThanks for the thoughtful suggestion (and mock-up!). At this time, it’s not planned, but we’ll keep this in mind for future enhancements to the product!
