  1. Add TeX as a supported file type

Much of my lab's documentation is written in LaTeX, or even vanilla TeX.
It would be incredibly useful to have .tex in the list of recognized
file types so that they can be displayed and/or edited in the browser
    client.

  2. Please add detailed logging for upload issues/failures

Please add logging for upload errors so admins can properly troubleshoot errors. Right now there's no information shown beyond the folder causing an upload issue and no details on why the upload failed ie: file or folder name, format, length, etc.

  3. Ability to use the client share link with templates

I would love for the client share link you can create for individual folders to have the ability to be built from templates. Having to add logos and file descriptions and additional file categories to every client upload link can take some serious time. This should be able to be streamlined by adding the ability to copy from templates so that clients can easily drag and drop files/folders into the correct category and with the added benefit of feeling more professional with company logos already set up for the links

  4. API Calls to Get Folder ID from File Request URL

Currently the only way to get the Folder ID that's associated for a File Request URL that exists is to know the Folder ID or the File Request ID that you're looking for before you do. Its easy if the user says this is the folder, but if they only have the link you're forced to run User Activity reports to attempt to locate what was created, even harder if you don't know the original user who created the file request and they don't know the folder.

It would be extremely beneficial to be able to make an API call…

  5. Add (Box Alternate domain) for Box FTP access from inside China & Hong Kong.

Add (Box Alternate domain) to support Box FTP access.

Our China/Hong Kong users needs to be able to upload large data sets via FTP/TLS. They can't access ftp.box.com. Thanks.

  6. Content Explorer UI File upload limit API option

Need API option in "Content Explorer" UI to increase file upload limit. We have this option available in "Content Uploader" UI. Similarly we need fileLimit option in "Content Explorer" UI too.

Right now we can able to upload only 100 files at a time from "Content Explorer"

  7. Restructure API endpoints to only use one base URL

We're currently pushing documents from a different system through your APIs using an integration platform.
Here we are uploading files and then assigning metadata templates to them for later use in searches and checking for versions, etc.

The integration platform vendor is taking pay through every baseline URL we add to the system as a connector and then allowing us to basically have as many connections to the same system as we want using that base URL. This is relevant to our challenge.

When utilizing the Box API, the base URL (based on the documentation I've found) for uploading documents…

  9. Show a warning message when users attempt to upload folders in a File Request

Frequently we have users attempt to upload folders to use using the file request drag & drop zone feature.

Box does not support the uploading of folders, however it allows users to drag folders into the drag/drop zone.

This gives the appearance that folders are supported, even though they are not. Then when users hit upload they must wait a long time before encountering an error that their upload failed, and it does not tell them why.

Solution: when a user drags a folder into the file request drop zone, immediately show a message that says "Warning: Uploading folders is…

  11. Folder copy rights for non-editor role

When a user wants to copy subfolders from folder A to B, he needs Editor role for folder A. This doesn‘t make sense e.g. when folder A shouldn‘t be changed by the user. Please enable copy function to lower roles Previewer/Uploader and Viewer.

  12. Provide the option of skipping files that have already previously been uploaded when loading a batch of files instead of creating "versions"

When I select all the files in a directory and drop them to Box.com, I need the ability to tell the system to skip any files that are already there and only upload the ones that are new. Currently, the system repeatedly uploads identical files and keeps creating "versions" each time the directory gets updated. It doesn't have to be the default behavior, since I assume there are use cases where versioning makes sense. But it absolutely should be an option, since the default user experience is to be asked how duplicates should be handled and given the ability to…

  14. File size upload limit - Option to choose any file size from 1MB - 150GB

I am suggesting a file size upload limitation setting to be lower than the existing 2GB.

The reason why is because some companies who are hyper sensitive to malware and virus issues want the ability to deep scan EVERY file uploaded into Box. Currently, deep scan is only able to scan files that are less than 200MB in size. This is a gap that can be solved by reducing the maximum file upload size into Box to 200MB.

While this greatly restricts the size of files being uploaded into Box, it gives the customer an option to choose one over…

  15. Too many clicks to share files + see download activity!

I'm finding it inconvenient that, to share a link once it's uploaded in the web interface, I have to click "Create & Copy Shared Link", then click "Link settings", then click "Copy", then click "Save", then click the X to close the window. That's five clicks just to grab the direct link. It may not seem like much, but it adds up - and I could have sworn it was a faster, more efficient process in earlier versions of Box years ago.

Not only that, but the recent change to the layout of the web interface in terms of seeing…

  16. Allow Admins to STOP Email Uploads Success/Failure Notifications

We have a requirement for some groups to email reports into Box folders. When using the Email Upload functionality, Box will send the uploading user an email to confirm whether their upload completed successfully or failed. Employees receive excessive emails since we cannot stop Box from sending these confirmations.
Just make it an option in the admin console to shut off these confirmation emails.

  17. Increase maximum image size for branding a File Request to above 1 MB

Upload limit for Box File Request Company Logo Branding is only 1 MB. This is way too small when the average file size of a smartphone mobile phone camera picture is about 3MB, LinkedIn allows 8 MB and Google allows 5 MB.

    LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a549049/photo-won-t-upload-to-your-profile?lang=en

    Google: https://support.google.com/business/answer/6103862?hl=en#:~:text=Photo%20guidelines,px%20tall%2C%20720%20px%20wide.

Solution: Literally just copy how Google Forms does it...........

  18. Add Support for .icon

It's been 17 years since Box came online. Isn't it about time stop nagging about Mac's .icon invisible files when we upload a custom folder?
Or at least NOT stop the uploading process just to nag me about that?
    It's metadata.
Along with .TS_FOLDER they're part of the system. The end user has no control over that.
Please either offer support for .icon or ignore it.
Just don't keep nag about it for the next 17 years. Please.

  19. Difference upload

I want a function or API that can upload only the difference in order to synchronize the local folder and the Box folder.

    ローカルフォルダとBoxフォルダを同期するために、差分のみアップロードできる機能やAPIが欲しい。

  20. File upload restriction to ensure file name matches the folder name

We would like to store files in the correct folder for each customer.
What I want to say is that we have to accurately store files entrusted to us by our clients in the proper folders. However, this is done manually by a person, so it is possible to make a mistake but we are not allowed to make mistakes.

Therefore, when storing files in a folder, we would like to establish a mechanism to block attempts to store files that do not match by having the file name and folder name match.
Is this possible? If this is not possible,…
