Global Metadata Variable
Provide functionality for metadata variables to be referenced globally within other metadata templates.
For example, company regions change annually. If we need to add a new region (South) to our current regions (Central, East, West), we have to update each individual template with a region field. It would be ideal if we could update the regions in one global variable that can then be referenced in all metadata templates. This process today is time consuming, decentralized, and error prone.
27 votesWhile we recognize the importance of this feature, it is not something we plan to introduce in the near term. We will certainly keep this in mind for future roadmap inclusion and we will keep the status of this request updated to accurately reflect our current position.

We are using the Box app on our iPhone.
Currently, we can't select multiple items (such as image files) and download them.We are convinced that it would be even more convenient if it were possible to select multiple files and download them all at once.

Ability to exclude domains from autoclassification trigger

Box Capture App needs a back button
Better navigation through the Box Capture app would be great. Since there is no BACK button, there is no way to easily navigate through the application which is a great. Having this option would make it easy to toggle back and forth between sub-folders and help speed up uploading information to their corresponding folders - Henry

Show Auto-Classification Criteria Matches on Classification Label On File
Auto-classification matches are currently stored within metadata on a file. If auto-classification classifies a piece of content, we'd like for the classification label indicator on a file (or hovering over the label) to show what criteria was met which requires a specific label. The purpose of this is to have a visual indicator to reinforce the sensitivity of content within a file.

When selecting a folder to move/copy items to in the Box for EMM/Box app, please make it possible to select from collections as well.
When moving/copying data in Box using iPhone, we need to point to a specific folder from the top hierarchy, which is time-consuming.

Option to disable preview of PDFs on phone
When I open PDF on iPhone it displays correctly but box preview seems to be ignoring multiply/darken layers and just display them without this. This causes white boxes and images being cut one from another.

thank you for your feedback. This suggestion is not under consideration for the current or future roadmap. After reviewing the shared folder and files we can confirm that preview works fine now.

Requests regarding Box For Teams V2
I would like to use the Box For Teams V2 integration, but the following functions are bottlenecks and cannot be used.
Therefore, I want to be able to turn off only the following functions in the tenant settings.
・Automatic creation of Box folders for teams/channels
・Automatic mapping of user permissionsIn most cases, Japanese companies use a controlled system in which the administrator owns the items.
However, if folders are automatically created or permissions are automatically attached with the Box For Teams V2 integration, control cannot be taken, so we requested this.

Shared Link Password Policy
Much like the default link expiry policy we would also like one specific to forcing passwords for shared links and preferably being able to define that policy with minimum characters and complexity.
Bonus would be passwords that are auto-generated and viewable by the creator of the shared links to minimize the need for external tools.

Allow Shield List of Countries Usable for Access Policies
There may be certain countries a Box customer may be prohibited from sharing with under any circumstance. I suggest making it possible to whitelist or blacklist entire countries by allowing Shield Lists of countries to be included in Access Policies.

Block file extensions lists in Shield malware detection
As part of Governance it is possible to move certain file types to a Quarantine folder. This is useful for a lot of ransomwares, as they change the extension of files.
Currently this "old" functionality has not yet been moved to Shield. Shield does have a malware detection, which uses threat detection technology. We would like to have the ability to extend this with a list of known extensions.

Create Custom File Request links
Currently, today, you can create a file request link, which generates a 32 character alphaumeric string. I'd like the ability to create a custom URL (like I can with shared links) to make it easier to promote my file request links to my stakeholders and make them more rememberable.
These custom file request links could have mandated security attached to them, either enforcing these to be only available to links set to "Require Uploaders to log in to Box" or (not available today in the product), enforce adding a password to access the custom file request link (see additional idea…

Require approval when sharing content with a business justification
Current access policy allows for external collaboration with a valid business justification, but we would also like to have the admin or folder owner approve the request to share externally, before the collaboration is sent. The current design doesn't allow for any validation and could potentially lead to content being shared with a restricted audience. Once the exception is approved, the collaboration could be set.

Add configuration option to hide the right-hand sidebar automatically
When a file is opened, the right-hand sidebar is open by default. My preference is to have it closed, so I must close it each time. Please add a configuration option that would allow for users to set that sidebar closed at startup by default.

A snapshot of contents within a Box drive folder
Have you ever looked at a top-level Box folder and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to dig through and drill down to every sub-folder just to know what the contents are?

Block single user
Our security has deemed a single email as suspicious. We would like to block this single email from connecting to our Box, or being collaborated into our Box.
With Shield we can block the whole domain, but that approach is too broad and would limit too many valid email addresses.
