Add a ready to use expiration date metadata (as for classification) so that this value can be leverage to trigger alert or business logic.

We want to expose a sub-set of metadata based on the initial choice of attribute. For example, if you were to pick the attribute "size" it might then offer you a subselection of size variants.2 votes
Although we do not plan to introduce this feature in the near term, we will keep this in consideration for future enhancements.
Similar to comments or tasks, it would be helpful to be able to autofill and insert a user's name in a metadata field.
There are a lot of use cases here, e.g. establishing the content owner since oftentimes that is different from the folder owner and not easily discernible or searchable.
Current workaround would be to use the text metadata field, which leaves room for user error, typos, or using different variations on people's names. A dropdown list helps with that but isn't a feasible option if you're choosing from a large set of users.1 vote
The webapp defaults to showing the user 3 columns - Name, Modified, and Size.
This request is to allow the user to customize which columns are shown -- i.e., show me the Name, Size, and Metadata field X columns, but nothing else. Or show me the Name, Modified, and Access Stats (Previews) columns.
Example columns to choose from:
-Kind (File Type)
-Access Stats (Preview, Download, etc.)
-Metadata (specific template/field)
As we need to meet specific regulatory or compliance requirements, it's helpful to have a history of the metadata attributes that are applied to a folder or file.
It would be ideal if this was versioned on files/folders in the UI or reportable via user reports.23 votes

Indexing Delay (Custom metadata is only accessible via index and there's a 5-10 minute delay between that shows in the search index)14 votes
When adding new values/attributes to a metadata template, the same value is used by all users regardless of user's locale.
For companies that have users in a wide range of geographies, it would be helpful to be able to give metadata attributes/values different names for different locales.4 votes
We were a previous heavy user of tags and our users enjoyed the ability to assign tags to multiple files at once in the old UI.
Because they have tens of thousands of users deployed, they often have the same attribute needed to be assigned to many files.5 votes

Metadata Search - Only Show Relevant Templates (That Are Already Applied to Content I have Access To)
Currently the Webapp Search UI filters for Metadata Templates show the user ALL Metadata Templates that are in their EID, regardless of whether the specific user actually has access to any content where that Template is being used.
This leads to a cluttered list of Metadata Templates in the webapp search filters UI when an EID has many Metadata Templates.10 votes
Metadata templates are currently global across an entire EID. This does not scale well for large organizations with 50,000, 100,000 or more than 200,000 users.
This request is to add 'scope' parameters to Metadata Templates such that a specific template can be restricted to...
1. A specific set of users
2. A specific set of Groups
3. A specific Folder structure40 votes
