Trigger a Box error when insufficient permissions to open a file in Box Drive
Right now, if you attempt to open a file from your Box Drive that you do not have download permissions to, it will throw a local application error and not a Box error indicating a permission issue.
From the end user perspective, this would indicate there was something wrong with this file or Box Drive failed to open.

Add Ability to 'Open with Office Online' via Box Drive
Users are not currently able to edit/open files to Office Online (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Online) from Box Sync / Box Drive
The key use case of this is to allow users to enter into co-authoring mode when starting in Box for Desktop.
REQUEST: Add an 'open in Office Online' option in the right-click menu for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files when in the Box for Desktop file system.

Shared Link Details: Add 'Last Usage' Column
The Shared Link Details report is a great report currently that provides admins a wealth of information when performing an 'inventory' or security review of all existing shared links.
One additional column that would be very helpful to include is a 'Last Usage' column that would provide a date entry for each shared link.
Usage is defined as the last time someone actually used that link in a browser. This is helpful to admins to be able to know if a link is still being used or not (prior to disabling it for security reasons.)14 votes -
Trashed items: include details about the deleter
When a user makes a GET call for all trashed items, the response does not include details (name/user ID) of the user who trashed each item. This is inconsistent with the Web App view of a user's trash. The Web App view includes the name of the item deleter.

Make folder/file description visible again under the File/Folder name vs new details pane
Description of file/folder has been moved to the details pane on the right side. My customer is seeing this as a regression and not as user friendly as before and would like to see description to come back under folder/file name (like in old UI) as opposed to the Details pane in New UI

The ability to limit the options for extending the retention period
We only want content to live in Box for a set period of time and want to limit the ability for content owners to extend retention after period is up.

Keep PDF searchable, bar downloading
The ability to share a file or folder with an external party, and let it be searchable (ctrl-f), but not able to be copied or downloadable. Watermarking would solve for the copying, but the ability to ctrl-f and download appear to be inextricably linked.

Image Shared Link Permissions should Match the Box Note's Shared Link Permission
For example, when a Box Note's shared link is set to 'people with the link', all images in the Box Note should also automatically be updated to be 'people with the link' links.
The current issue is that when I set a Box Note's link to 'people with the link' but my company's shared link default is 'people in your company', all the embedded images in the Box Note are still set to 'people in your company', meaning if a non-authenticated user accesses the 'people with the link' Box Note link, they'll see 'insufficient privileges' for all the images in…
42 votesThank you for the feedback. We understand that the current permissions behavior for Box Notes images is not necessarily intuitive, and are actively looking into ways to improve that user experience. We don’t yet have a timeline for delivery, but will update here when its available.

Admin console page default for co-admins
Box security best practices, and those of many other enterprises, dictate that no one use the Box super admin account except for very specific purposes like granting or removing co-admin rights to another account.
Day-to-day Box administration is done with co-admin accounts.
Request: co-admin account be given the option to set the admin console as its home page like the super admin account can.

Bounceback sent to admin when they send an email to noreply@box.com
When a comment is added to a file in Box a notification is sent to an end user from the email "noreply@box.com" If that recipient then replied to the email would the bounce back of being "undelivered" be controlled by Box or the admins email?
End users are currently not receiving a bounce back email and therefore unaware their comments are not being delivered so our admin is missing out on comments.

While we don’t have any current plans to support this feature, I would recommend the following workaround to use the ‘Description’ field that appears at the top of a folder. Thanks for the suggestion! We currently do not have plans to integrate tasks with calendar applications. Please continue to submit your use cases here, as we may revisit in a future planning cycle based on customer demand.
