    This feature is not currently planned, but it is a second-priority item for our team. A related feature—the ability to open a file in Box Drive from the web app—is on our roadmap and will be an initial step toward supporting this request. We will keep you posted on updates; please continue upvoting this request, as it helps us prioritize improvements. Thanks for your collaboration.

    guys, this is not "second priority" because shared links is probably the most used resource to share files

    just think: when you click on a link to join a Zoom or TEAMS meeting, it initially opens in the browser, but then you get a pop up saying "this side is trying to open Zoom/TEAMS - ALLOW or CANCEL", so why can't Box Drive work the same way?

    This request was made 8 years ago - it's urgent and long overdue
