1. Request for Improvement of BOX Drive Proxy Server Authentication Response Function

   BOX Drive is not working properly in our environment.
   We recognize that BOX Drive is designed to read Pac files, but the communication is succeeding up to the proxy server according to the Pac file.
   However, it seems that it is not able to respond to the authentication response of the proxy server.

   As a result, when we open files in our Office products (Excel and Word) that cannot be opened in a web browser, we have to download the file once from
   BOX.
   This method is not productive for us.

   As a solution, we would like to be able to use BOX Drive to open files directly from Office products (Office desktop applications).
   Please consider improving the support for proxy authentication responses.

   Please note that SSL decoding is not performed for communications to BOX.

   弊社環境において、BOX Driveが正常に動作しておりません。

   しかし、プロキシサーバーの認証応答に対応できていないようです。

   これにより、弊社ではWebブラウザ上で開けないファイルをOffice製品（ExcelやWord）で開く際、

   この方法では生産性が低下してしまいます。

2. Box Drive built with the new architecture to not move deleted files/folders to the local Recycle Bin

   For the new-architecture Box Drive, we have observed that deleting the following types of items primarily moves them to the local and Box Web trash.
   ・Folders with online status
   ・Folders with downloaded status
   ・Files with downloaded status

   One of the reasons customers choose Box is to improve security (prevent information leaks), and they expect to operate in a way that “data is stored locally as little as possible.”
   However, once items are moved to the local Recycle Bin, the deletion policies configured for the trash in Box are no longer applied to those items.

   We feel that the fact that data supposedly deleted on Box Drive in reality still remains locally (in the Recycle Bin) undermines the value of using Box Drive. We are concerned that, after opting in, this results in a state where the overall security level is effectively reduced.

   Additionally, items moved to the Recycle Bin can be restored locally (e.g., to the desktop), which results in an extremely inadequate security situation. Therefore, we would like the behavior to be the same as in environments where opt-out is disabled, so that items are not moved to the local Recycle Bin.

   Box Drive上で削除したはずのデータが、事実上まだローカル上に残る（ごみ箱に残る）状態は、Box Driveを利用する意味が薄くなってしまうと感じており、オプトイン後は「セキュリティーレベルが低下した」状態になってしまうという懸念があります。

   また、ごみ箱に移動したアイテムはローカル（デスクトップ等）に復元することも可能となってしまいセキュリティが極めて不十分な状況に陥っているため、オプトアウト無効の環境と同じようにローカル上のごみ箱には移動しないようにしてほしいです。

3. Box Drive Cloud Files: Selecting the Cache Storage

   With the release of Box Drive Cloud Files, the specification for where the Box Drive cache is stored has been changed:
   Traditional Box Drive: C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Box\Box\cache
   Box Drive Cloud Files: Same folder as Box Drive
   In our company, we have changed the Box Drive mount location and are operating with a reduced capacity on that mounted drive. Due to the above specification change, upload errors caused by insufficient space are occurring.
   It is not realistically possible to re-image all corporate users’ PCs and change their storage capacities. A forced migration to Box Drive Cloud Files would therefore impact all users in our organization and could potentially lead to a decline in Box usage.
   We strongly request the addition of a feature in Box Drive Cloud Files that allows us to select the cache storage location on the C drive, as was possible with the previous specification.

   There is currently no command or API available to log out from Box Drive programmatically.

   Request:
   We would like to request the addition of a command or API that allows users to log out from Box Drive remotely. This would be particularly valuable for enterprise IT administrators who need to immediately terminate Box Drive sessions and clear local cache in the event of a device theft.

5. Sync Box to an external hard drive

   This should go without saying, but internal hard disks are far too small for cloud storage to sync, especially when using the cloud storage for large files such as video editing. We have several Terabytes of data on ours that we access all the time, as a group of editors. It's an absolute dealbreaker that we're forced to use the default location of the local drive to sync files using Box Desktop, and we would like the option of choosing an external hard drive or even a secondary internal drive to sync to. Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, and Google Drive all have these options, albeit some are quite complicated to activate, but we're already settled on Box here so we'd like to not have to move to one of those to continue service.

7. Please review the reordering of menu items and consider using a pop-up display.

   Because “Hide this folder,” “Share,” and “Update folder” are arranged vertically, users are more likely to click the wrong option during operation.
   In particular, a user trying to select “Share” may accidentally click “Hide,” causing the folder to disappear from the list and making it difficult to tell whether the folder was deleted by mistake or merely hidden.
   In addition, because no confirmation pop-up (reconfirmation message) is shown when “Hide” is clicked, there is insufficient protection to prevent accidental actions.

8. I would love to be able to direct Box Drive to any drive connected to my computer.

   Have the option to choose where Box Drive syncs from not just where it is installed. Instead of the startup drive as default Box Drive location, having the option to choose any drive internal or external drive would be great.

9. New Box Drive for Windows (Cloud Files): Improve Explorer UX during startup/connecting to avoid unstable/incorrect folder state

   Problem (What problem could Box solve for you?)
   When Windows starts, the new Box Drive (Cloud Files architecture) auto-connects. During this “connecting/initializing” period, the Box Drive folder becomes visible in File Explorer even though Box Drive is not fully running/ready. The folder view is unstable: some items show missing icons/status, and opening folders can result in errors. This happens consistently across multiple users in our pilot.
   This behavior may be aligned with the feature “Box Drive folders remain accessible even when the Box Drive application is not running,” but exposing a partially-initialized state causes confusion and support tickets (users think Drive is broken or content is missing).

   Proposed improvement
   Please improve the File Explorer experience while Box Drive is starting/connecting/initializing so users do not see an unstable or misleading folder state. For example:
   Show a clear “Box Drive is connecting/initializing” placeholder and block navigation until ready; and/or
   Provide an admin/user option to delay/hide the Box Drive mount until Drive is connected; and/or
   Ensure cached vs. not-yet-available content is clearly indicated without throwing generic Windows errors.

   Steps to reproduce
   1.Install new Box Drive for Windows (Cloud Files architecture), version 2.48 (pilot).
   2.Ensure Box Drive is configured to auto-start on Windows login.
   3.Reboot the PC and open File Explorer immediately after login.
   4.Observe Box folder becomes visible before Drive is fully ready; icons may be missing/blank; opening folders may show errors.

   Impact
   ・End-user confusion (“Drive is broken”, “files disappeared”)
   ・Increased helpdesk tickets and delays in rollout/adoption of the new Box Drive

10. Pause upload/download on Box Drive

    PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. I cannot describe how much this is important to me. I work on several projects that use many files simultaneously. Some of these files are large. Being unable to pause an upload/sync makes my workflow so incredibly slower.

    Current life: I make some edit to a large file, my entire workflow is interrupted as said large file needs to be entirely uploaded before I can retrieve literally anything else from Box. This last part is not even Box's problem, but I have a pretty decent computer and slows down significantly during large uploads, which affects the rest of my work too. Even writing this request was a little slow.

    Now, IMAGINE this wonderful little scenario: I click on the Box icon. I hit pause sync or whatever you may want to call it. I do whatever edit I want. Then, at the end of the workday, I hit resume sync.

    Now IMAGINE this even better scenario for someone like me: oops, I forgot to hit the pause button before I started working. NO PROBLEM! I can pause/cancel this particular upload as it is happening.

11. Box Drive performance is terrible

    I have had a personal Box subscription for about 20 years and used Box Sync on multiple devices (PC, Mac, Mobile) with barely a hiccup in all that time. Rock solid and reliable. For the past few years I have had my Cursor/VS Code project folders stored in Box and synced along with lots of other general document files and everything just worked with minimal noticeable lag. So I didn't think twice about installing Box Drive to take over from Box Sync.

    Wow, what a disappointment. Before I could just tag a folder to "Sync" and know it would be available locally in full on all my devices. No issues, fairly instant sync. Now, I have to "Make available offline" if I actually want a folder to sync, but even then it doesn't work well. IF I can even see the accurate sync status of a folder or file the only thing I can count on is that it could be DAYS before even small changes fully sync. Or never.

    Mind you I am mostly running on two fully OS updated Apple silicon Macs (M1 Max and M5 Pro Macbook Pros), on Gigabit speed Verizon FIOS connections, so there is NO excuse for a 5 second sync delay on a few updated html or js files, let alone 5 DAYS. I'm simply trying to move a few files between two powerful Macs and the changes I've made on one are simply not uploading, so the otherMac doesn't even know it's behind. Force Quitting Box and relaunching seems to get things moving again but how did this thing pass QA in such a glitchy state?

    For the first time in 20 years I am seriously considering dropping Box, and can no longer recommend it to clients who might be frustrated by their experience with Google Drive or OneDrive. Not sure what's going on over there but I expect better from Box.

12. Controlling the Visibility of External Collaboration Folders in Box Drive via Admin Settings

    We would like administrators to be able to control the visibility of external folders in Box Drive via the Admin Console.

    When using Box Drive, the following security risks exist:
    ・Risk of data leakage due to user error: Files or folders may be accidentally dragged and dropped into external collaboration folders.
    ・Risk of ransomware spreading to external tenants: If a user falls victim to ransomware, the encryption attack may also affect external collaboration folders belonging to other companies.

    We would like administrators to be able to control the visibility of external folders in Box Drive via the Admin Console. Rather than users configuring this themselves, we want administrators to be able to enforce the hiding of external collaboration folders through Admin settings.
    ・Control scope: the enterprise level and the group level.

    ・Control details: Toggle display/hide on Box Drive (access remains available via the web app)
    ・Configuration permissions: Only administrators can change settings (end users cannot make changes)
    ・Scope of application: All users at once, or on a per-user or per-group basis

13. Show in Box Drive or Reveal in Finder from Box Web

    When I am looking at file in Box on a web browser, I want a button that takes me straight to the file in Box Drive/a macOS Finder window. We can already do that in the other direction (see attached, "View on Box.com"); it would be convenient to be able to do this in both directions. I don't know what the Windows equivalent is. 14. Box drive should only show and sync the selected folder and left the unselected online only

    Box drive now allows you to hide folder. Be frankly this is useless. Because for most the IT users, we normally enabe showing hidden folder/files option in Windows explorer. So for more prefessional usage, the Box Drive should only show and sync the selected folders. The folders not selected should be left alone online.
    One example, I have a box drive hosting many folders. Each folder hosting one project. The projects could be from different client. When I work with client A, I only want client A project folder to be sync and shown on my desktop. But now the other project folders are also included in the sync set. Even it is hidden but as said as long as you enable showing hiddeng folder/file option, you can still see, more importantly access those folders and files. This leads to potencial data leak.
    The Box Drive is a good product but clearly it is not ready to be an enterprise or professional solution like Microsoft One Drive.

15. Convert Box Drive File to Box Link when Emailing Copy of File

    We use Box to store company documents, and most people prefer to work with the Box files natively on Windows via Box Drive. The issue is when someone wants to circulate a copy of a file stored on box. The standard practice is to drag a copy of the document from Windows Explorer to an Outlook email. This results in a copy of the document, so future collaborators are not editing the Box document, but rather a copy.

    This is a common feature in most established DMS products, where the user is asked if they want to upload the actual file or instead, a link to the file so that when the recipient opens the attachment, they are directed to the file on the server, not the copy of the document in the email.

16. Allow users to save column width settings in folder view (Box Web and Box Drive)

    Description:
    Currently, when viewing folders in Box (both Web and Box Drive), the default column widths for fields like "Name" and "Modified Date" are too narrow. Users must manually adjust the column widths every time they open a folder. However, these adjustments are not saved, and the view resets to the default narrow widths.
    This causes inconvenience and reduces productivity, especially for users who frequently work with long file names or need to sort by date.
    Feature Request:

    Enable users to save their preferred column widths in folder views.

17. I would like the display position of the "Hide this folder" menu on BoxDrive to be changed.

    The "Hide this folder" feature has been made possible on BoxDrive, but cases of accidental folder hiding due to misoperation have been occurring. We believe one of the reasons is that it is located among frequently used menus like "Share" and "Update folder."

    We hope for an improvement in changing the display position of the "Hide this folder" menu. Alternatively, it would be great if we could have a setting option to disable the "Hide this folder" menu altogether.

19. Switch to Cloud File API for Drive to solve the Icons not showing issue

    Like many users I found that the status icons disappeared in Explorer after starting an addition cloud service on Windows 11. This issue is well documented here: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044195513-Icons-Do-Not-Appear-In-Box-Drive-or-Box-Sync-on-Windows

    I would like to suggest utilizing the newer "cloud files API" provided by Microsoft that is used by OneDrive to move the icons to a status category rather than icons on the file thumbnails/icons.

20. Box Drive installation improvements

    While I am submitting this for Box Drive, I think this should apply to all .msi installers from Box. Is there a way that we can see the version info in the file Properties - > Details? I know that .msi installation makes this trickier than .exe but it is difficult to determine if the website Download link gave me the most recent version or not.

    There have been instances where the download from the website (https://www.box.com/resources/downloads#:~:text=Download%20Box%20Drive%20for%20Windows%20(64%20bit) gave me an older version than a user who had Box Drive installed with auto-updates enabled.

    If something as simple as a administrator web-page with a translation table that shows what version a revision number GUID or content created time-stamp refer to.

    Additionally, I see this idea was shot down ~5.5 years ago, so I hope it can be reconsidered:

    It would make more sense if Box Drive reported as Box Drive in installed programs instead of just Box. Other installations have their full product name - Box Tools, Box for Office and it is easier to intuit what it represents.
