This request cannot practically be implemented as an API. A client needs to control the state of local items on an endpoint such as a user’s computer, much like the Box Drive or Box Mobile clients do today. The only planned supported means for such synchronization capabilities are the Box Drive and Mobile clients.

We would like to manage retention in Box. This means that Box cannot be executing the delete action, it has to come directly from our enterprise.
The current design involves setting an indefinite policy for files declared to be "Records". This prevents them from being deleted until FileNet says it's okay.
When it is time to delete the file, based on the current product capabilities, a finite retention period needs to be applied. Currently, the shortest is 1day. After that, FileNet should be able to send a delete call to get rid of the file.
The problem is that since we are not using the standard delete call, the file is still available for 14 days which will not meet the requirements. We want an immediate purge from the server which could be done with a 0 day retention policy.
