Request Compliance Reports from Admin Console
It would be great if customers could request SOC reports (and possibly other Compliance reports) directly from the Admin Console. This way requests go to the right people right away, expediting the report return rate!
33 votesAs we work to build out a more robust compliance framework, this is absolutely something we’ll be considering. However, it is not on the near-term roadmap.

User-Level Sharing Controls: Control sharing permissions at the User level
This request is specific to controlling external sharing permissions and defaults at the user level. For example, an admin should be able to permit whether a user can generate Open Shared Links (e.g., disable open links per user), invite external collaborators, and the default shared link permission that is generated by that user, even if those users are within a folder that has external sharing enabled.
30 votesWe are currently focused on building groups for access to 1st and 3rd party apps and specific enterprise settings in Box rather than focusing on groups or individual users for sharing controls. Uservoice request here: pulse.box.com/admin/v3/suggestions/36670615
To achieve granular sharing controls, you can explore using Box Shield to classify sensitive content and set access policies to that content.

Security Report: Include Changes to Any Setting from Enterprise Settings
Currently, the Security Report doesn't appear to capture quite a few settings changes that happen in Enterprise Settings in the Admin console, which is bad.
For example, if an admin is wanting to know who changed the 'save files to device' setting on the Admin Console -> Enterprise Settings -> Mobile tab, there's no in-product way currently to identify that. Also,
--All Notifications tab settings except for the Compliance Email Archive settings are missing
--ALL settings from the Apps tab are missing, meaning there are no filters/logs exposed currently for any changes to make apps available/disabled, disabling all published apps,…28 votes -
Create a group of previously created groups aka nested groups
We have a group of providers that we would like to make a larger super-group of the nested smaller groups instead of adding each individual user
27 votesAt this time, we are developing solutions for using groups to grant access to apps and enterprise settings. https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778/suggestions/36670615
Supporting nested groups may be a longer term vision that we consider after solving the first problem above.

As an admin I like to be able to search on a folder ID in the admin console
I just had a user with only a path to a folder with an id (https://company.app.box.com/folder/123456789) for example.
I didn't have access to it, so I was wondering which folder it actually was.
I couldn't find a way to search for the ID in the admin console, so I could find the real name and owner.
My suggestion is to have a search field in the admin console where you can put the Folder ID and it returns the full path and owner.

Merge Users - Ability to Merge 2 or More Accounts Into 1
A 'merge users' feature would help with the initial administrative burden of cleaning up existing accounts.
Key asks:
--The ability to choose 2 or more Managed Users in Box to merge
--The ability to choose which email becomes the primary email for the user (thus which account will become the owner of the other account's owned content)
--The ability to choose whether demoted emails should be retained as email aliases or simply removed from the user's (updated) profile
--The ability to choose whether existing collaborations on externally-owned folders are retained (meaning account 2 is invited into an external folder, when…25 votesWe are currently re-designing our managed users page for performance and usability updates which will be released at the end of this year. We will revisit newer features to user management after we release our new UI. In the meantime, please add your use cases in the comments so we can have this feedback when we decide to pick this up.

Bulk Edit - Add 'Status' column to Bulk Edit spreadsheet
There is no way in the Admin Console to update 'status' (active, inactive, etc.) for 2 or more users at once (aka in bulk).
22 votesEnhancements to the Bulk Add/Edit feature are not currently on the roadmap, but will keep track of this request and consider prioritizing if many customers are requesting it. User status can be edited via API or SAML

Allow Excel to open report (csv) without worrying about encoding
The encoding for such csv file is in UTF-8 (no Byte Order Mark) and Excel failed to interpret such file, resulting in non-Unicode character turning garble.
Since we open this report in a Spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel, it would be beneficial to have Byte Order Mark added to the csv report in the first place.
The workaround now is either
1) Open the csv file in a modern text editor and re-save it using UTF-8 (with Byte Order Mark)2) Open a blank spreadsheet on Excel. From "Data" tab click on import from text data source. The manually imported…

Ability to create Box reports by API
To import snapshot data (folders and files, collaborations etc.) to SIEM like Splunk, it's convenient that Box reports data can be created by API.
22 votesCustomers can utilize the existing events infrastructure to gather this data, so we do not have any plans to provide snapshots in fewer API calls in the short term.

Groups cannot be collaborated via API without Manage groups scope
Users cannot add groups to folders via the API like they can in the UI without special 'manage groups' scope, which is essentially an admin scope. One direct impact with this is that it prevents our mobile app from having invite parity with our web app,

Change Unique Identifier to Something other than Email Address
This is the grouping for the common request for Box to use a unique identifier other than email address for managed users.
Key pain point with the fact that Box uses email address as the unique identifier: Email addresses change often in large companies, thus requiring these companies to use custom API scripting to keep emails in Box updated based on changes in AD.
This unique identifier (whether a mapped value from the customer's user store, aka AD, or the Box unique user ID) should also be the identifier used when users authenticate to Box using SSO (via SAML).
20 votesThis feature request isn’t currently planned on the roadmap, but we are considering the notion of user attributes that can be placed on a user and then used for better context while sharing / collaborating and searching in the Admin Console.
Please provide more use cases in the comments to help us understand the problem better.

Display folder path when Admin select folders to run User Activity reports.
There are many same folder names. When Admin like to select specific a folder to run the report, he or she can not select right folder due to having the same folder name. If there is folder path, Admin is able to select right folder to run the report.

Reporting for Former Employee(s)
I'd like to be able to run reports, like the failed login report, on former employee's deleted accounts. Once their account is deleted, they can no longer be searched so impossible to run a report on that group of individuals.

Group-Level Sharing Controls: Control sharing permissions at the Group level
This request is specific to controlling external sharing permissions and defaults by Group. For example, an admin should be able to permit whether a Group can generate Open Shared Links, invite external collaborators, and the default shared link permission that is generated, even if users in that Group are within a folder that has external sharing enabled.
19 votesFor now, we are focussed on solving bulk management issues with Shared Links.
Box Shield is an additional option for enforcing granular controls on content.

Ability to create an index of a folder structure
1) A way to create an index of a folder structure to make it easier for outside collaborators to get an idea of whats down the folder tree. We’re looking for some sort of index (like a table of contents) in an orderly fashion for a particular set of folders. I ran a files and folders report but as just an excel sheet it was relatively useless as a table of contents
2) A way to schedule a report to run daily or weekly

Ability to sort folders that appear in the "Select folders this user can access" view
The current view includes both parent and sub-folders. We would like a method for choosing Favorites or such that allows control of that window's view.
As we have a large number of folders, the current view is unmanageable and searching is cumbersome.

Currently our event log does not log detailed about activity made in External Folders
For example, copying files from an internal folder to an external folder our admin logs does not log the file name or details about the file. Only logs the File ID and target Folder ID.
We should log activity made in external folders.Registering Webhooks against external folders detailed logs are exported. We should be logging the same details to our admin logs.

Inactive State: Do Not Hide Owned Folders for Managed User Collaborators (still hide for External Collaborators)
Currently the 'Inactive' User Status not only prevents the user from accessing their account, it also hides ALL owned folders for all collaborators.
Meaning if John Smith is changed to 'Inactive', all of the collaborators that are in his owned folders will no longer see those folders in their accounts.
REQUEST: Change this status to only prevent the user from accessing their account, while keeping their owned content visible for Managed User collaborators (keeping today's behavior of hiding for External Collaborators).
