  1. Box Drive for Windows on Arm

With the release of new Copilot PC by Microsoft and other partners that run on Arm processors it would be nice to be able to install Box Drive on Windows on Arm.

  2. Certain Windows applications, don’t work with Box Drive

I would like to be able to use Windows apps (such as the built-in Photo app or Snipping Tool app) when opening image files in Box Drive.
In a company with strict security like ours, all apps that can be used are controlled by administrators, and free apps cannot be used without permission.
In addition, adding apps requires an almost hopeless application process, and free apps cannot be added due to security policies.
If BoxDrive could use Windows apps, that would solve this problem, so could you please make it possible somehow?

  4. <About BoxDrive becoming a native application for Windows 11

<About BoxDrive becoming a native application for Windows 11
Until Windows 10, when you right-clicked on a content in BoxDrive, the BoxDrive menu was displayed immediately.
In Windows 11, the menu does not appear immediately, and the menu finally appears after pressing "right click > check other options".
We are aware that the menu will appear as before just by right-clicking when it is compatible with Windows 11 native apps, so please take action.
OneDrive and Notepad++ already support native apps, so only BoxDrive is not as convenient as it should be.
Although it is a small matter, it causes…

  5. Changing default columns view in File Explorer with Box Drive

When using Box Drive on Windows 10, and accessing through File Explorer, the default columns are set as: Name | Size | Item type | Date modified.

I would like to be able to change those default columns and their order.

Currently, File explorer has a functionality that allows the default column view to be changed for all folders (View tab > Options > "Change Folder and Search Options" > "View" tab > and select "Apply to Folders)

However, this functionality does not work for trying to change the default column view for folders viewed through Box Drive.

  6. Box Drive for Windows 11

Box please bring your Box Drive up to date with two changes.

    1. Support the new context (right-click) menu in Explorer on Windows 11
    2. Fix the Icon overlays for Box that show the status of a file. (already posted an idea on this months and months ago

  7. Enhance file storage location for Box Drive

Having files stored in a hidden user cache folder is a very bad design. Leave them in the folder where they "physically" are, instead, just as Box sync, Dropbox, Mega, and others do.

Plus, let me choose where the app installs in and which folders I want to keep synced. As is it now, Box Drive has a needlessly redundant mechanic, eats up space on the system drive, and give no control to users.

I uninstall the app until these problems are addressed.

  8. Re-implement Windows shell icon overlays - Fix it permanently

This is an age old problem that is getting more and more common and you even have it covered here - https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044195513-Icons-Do-Not-Appear-In-Box-Drive-or-Box-Sync-Folder-on-Windows
Now in Windows 10, if we rename the registry keys, the moment the computer restarts OneDrive changes the keys again so that the box icons are not showing.

According to Microsoft this should be attacked in a more modern way

  9. Box Drive (Windows) - Remember folder view settings

We’ve been using Box Drive since launch, and it’s been an incredible improvement in our workflow. Only a small issue has made it notably less useful in saving time, and is a known issue documented here (community.box.com/t5/Box-Drive-Known-Issues..)

Our file name and directory lengths are wider than the default for Box Drive/Windows. Normally Windows remembers preferences around column width, but in this case, as you know, Box Drive does not. This causes us to have to manually resize the “Name” field in every folder/directory, every time we access one. Therefore each user is having to do this perhaps dozens of times…

  10. Box Drive: Change cache location

It would be really awesome to allow the box drive cache location to be placed somewhere other than C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Box\Box\cache, say on on a separate volume that doesn't consume space on C: (boot / application drive). Ideally I would like to place it on my second ssd D:

  11. Support AD Conditional Access with Microsoft Azure

Please support AD Conditional Access with Microsoft Azure. It meets security requirements so easily.
And it is compatible for third-party apps by configuring SAML settings.

I think that is not easy to develop Azure cooperation feature, but I require that.

  12. Add separate "status" column to Box Drive application

Box Drive has a known issue of overlay iconography sometimes not displaying after installed. This is affecting about 10% of our client installs and is an absolute headache and nightmare to resolve without registry updates.

This is caused due to the Box Drive apps's reliance on the "ImageList_SetOverlayImage" function in Windows which has a hard limit of 15 values. Thus Box Drive's icons "compete" with other cloud providers' icons on priority and is totally unsustainable as you are at the mercy of how other cloud providers code their software to take precedence over others in this list (by playing the…

  13. Box Drive IO performance abysmal

The performance of box drive read/write operations is sometimes a bit slow (10%) and other times abysmal.
Based on tests, scrubbing through timeline in an editing software like premiere pro is jittery whereas it is fast on onedrive which I believe does delayed sync and doesn't impact IO that much.
When unzipping a file containing numerous files and folders however the performance is so bad that it's not doable, it's in the neighborhood of 40x slower so a throughput of 140 MB/s turns into 3MB/s

recommended actions: optimize IO of the mount point, providing option to turn off on the…

  15. Make Box Drive a NTFS volume

Box Drive is currently recognized as a FAT32 "installed volume". Whenever I try to copy a file from my NTFS SSD, I get a system message telling me that some file properties cannot be copied.

I don't know if that can cause any problem in the files content, but it surely hurts our working efficiency, since we have to do an additional click every time we need to upload a file throughBox Drive.

This feature is available for a limited set of customers. Contact your Box representative for more information.

  20. Watermark is "too intrusive"

Coming from WatchDox, this watermark style is way too intrusive. It makes the file content hard to read. Ultimately, we'd like the ability to customize the style and content of the watermark.
