Embed - Add Ability to Remove Header from Embed Widget
In the legacy UI embed widget, there was a parameter in the code to not show the header, which was a great option as we want a streamlined embed widget.
In the new UI embed widget, this option has been removed, meaning the header is ALWAYS shown, which can be a major UI distraction for various embed use cases.
REQUEST: Re-add the ability to remove/hide the header within the embed parameters.
22 votesThanks for the suggestion! This is an awesome idea, but due to competing priorities, this is feature request not currently on our immediate roadmap.

Colorized folder icons for externally shared folders
I would like an additional (apart from grey, blue and yellow) color (red?) for folders that are shared with external people.
22 votesAn external indicator exists today as part of the External Access Indicators release via the details sidebar of a folder.

New Web UI and custom logo
In the old UI, you could use any logo in the top left corner of the screen.
We've been given the answer that the only place we can set a logo is in the top right corner of the screen with the new UI.
However, users are used to the logo being in the top left corner and would like to have the option to place it in the top left.21 votesThank you for your feedback! In an effort to modernize our application, we have made significant updates to our Web product to ensure that we improve our user experience while retaining custom branding for customers. Given that this feedback is related to user preference, we will continue to monitor if users continue to feel strongly about this. At this time, we do not plan to change this experience.

Prevent the easy deletion of root level folders
We accidentally deleted a root level folder for millions of folders.
This may be done by locking the folder, where it could allow users to create/edit/delete the contents within the folder, but not allowing the locked folder itself to be rename/moved/deleted.
This may also help Box Sync (and possibly Box Drive) users, as many Box Sync users often delete the top level folders by accident.

Allow for users to create custom colors for their folders.
We would like to be able to custom color code their folders.
20 votesWe will not be supporting custom colors for folders. We’re investigating having visual indicators for certain classifications.

Please create navigation to split "shared with me" files and folders from my own files and folders, similar to OneDrive.
Please, please, create a separate view on the web to just showcase files and folders that are shared with me; rather than files/folders that are of my ownership. Similar to what other file storage providers offer, like OneDrive.
18 votesThank you for the feedback here -we are considering various ways to split shared/owned content & are considering this for the future roadmap, but don’t currently have a timeline for this.

Right-click on a file to open in a new tab.
We need an easy way to open multiple tabs for a file. Our writers want to be able to right-click a file name in Box and choose to open in a new tab or window.

Separate Move / Copy buttons
Please consider improving this within Amsterdam
There are a number of use cases that can be supported by separating the Move / Copy button into unique buttons:
1) Folder or file templates: Users with Viewer access (can download) should be able to COPY a file or folder elsewhere. Currently this is not supported -- the user must download, which loses BoxNotes and Bookmarks.
2) Separating "records" from reference material -- If Retention is set on a file, the user may want to copy a version elsewhere that is not subject to Retention
18 votesInteresting suggestion, but we won’t be focusing on this ask for the time being due to competing priorities.

Add ability to change sort order of comments
In the latest UI, comments on files are sorted in chronological order instead of reverse chronological order. I'd like the option to change my sort order so that newest comments are listed first.
17 votesAs part of the usability enhancements rolling out in the update noted here here – https://community.box.com/t5/Box-Product-Updates/Simplified-Sharing-Public-Beta/idi-p/64620 – we updated the Activity sidebar in Preview to sort comments with the latest comment at the bottom, aligning with the comment composer’s location at the bottom and to make way for future updates planned for the sidebar. As a result, we don’t plan to change sort order.

Make folder/file description visible again under the File/Folder name vs new details pane
Description of file/folder has been moved to the details pane on the right side. My customer is seeing this as a regression and not as user friendly as before and would like to see description to come back under folder/file name (like in old UI) as opposed to the Details pane in New UI
17 votesThanks for the suggestion, however, at this time, we do not plan to revert the changes to the description pane.

Ability to change default collaborator level globally
Customer is requesting the ability to change the default collaborator level upon adding a new collaborator. The default level is now Editor, but the customer wants to set the default to Viewer Uploader or something else to protect against provisioning too much access to users.
Additionally, the customer wants to collaborate with many customers (external users) and would like to provision appropriate access to those users (preferably not Editor).

Make it easier to create a free account for external collaboration
free users account creation is difficult so this lead to lower the usage of external collaboration. Hence, the users are using more shadow IT
16 votesThank you for your feedback! At this time, we cannot prioritize this feature request, however, we will keep this in mind for future iterations of our account creation experience.

Enhance and support the Box Embed Widget for mobile browsers.
We outsource hosting and presenting documents to Box. We allow our users to upload documents in our app and we upload them to Box via API. Later on, when users want to view the file, we ask the Box API for an iframe URL and embed it in our app. So, in the end, no one is logged in to any box applications, because we use the API under the hood.
16 votesThank you for the submission. We are currently collecting use cases and feature requests for the Box Embed widget, and are considering it for update in a future planning cycle. We do not have a timeline for this at present, but ask you to continue to submit feedback here in the meantime.

Disable Folder Rename capability
I would like to have a Folder properties setting to disable Folder Rename (even for Editors).
I was testing setting up departmental folders to replicate our group file server. I want all members of the department to be able to add/remove/delete files in their folder. I was able to do that by assigning them the editor role, but that allows them to change the root level folder name. Is there a way to prevent that?
For instance, I create folders for accounting, finance, etc. I want those folders to keep the names I set and I do not want the…

Downloading Empty Folders
We noticed and it's confirmed with Box Support that the Box service treats "empty folders" inconsistently depending on which Box mechanism is used.
Empty folders are not created if we download folders via the Web interface. Empty folders are created via Box Sync. We are finding that this inconsistent behavior is creating confusion for our users and a mistrust in the Box service. Can you rectify the inconsistent behaviour?
15 votesThank you for this suggestion! This is a low priority because it’s a very narrow use case. Changing this functionality does not impact a large enough user base.
