Add ability to change sort order of comments
In the latest UI, comments on files are sorted in chronological order instead of reverse chronological order. I'd like the option to change my sort order so that newest comments are listed first.
As part of the usability enhancements rolling out in the update noted here here – https://community.box.com/t5/Box-Product-Updates/Simplified-Sharing-Public-Beta/idi-p/64620 – we updated the Activity sidebar in Preview to sort comments with the latest comment at the bottom, aligning with the comment composer’s location at the bottom and to make way for future updates planned for the sidebar. As a result, we don’t plan to change sort order.

In addition to these comments, it would be helpful to sort the comments based on factors other than chronology. For example, sorting by page where the comments appear (eg. see all comments from page 1, followed by all from page 2, and then 3, etc., regardless of WHEN the comment was made).

Currently, the order of comments shows up differently when viewing a Box Note directly versus as a preview. When directly in a Box Note, the most recent comment is at the top. However, when viewing a Box Note file in a folder (in a web-browser) and clicking the small comment icon, the earliest comment is at the top. While I agree with other folks here that I like the earliest comment on the top... whichever option is used, it should be consistent across these two views.

I totally agree with the group so far. When I first noticed the change, it was not scrolling to the bottom to show the most recent comments but now does appear to be doing so. However, is still counter-intuitive, in my opinion. Interested to see what other updates are planned for the sidebar that require this sort of modification.

Thanks for the feedback. In the updated experience, the sidebar automatically scrolls such that the most recent comments are shown at the bottom of the sidebar upon loading the page (you shouldn't have to scroll just to see the most recent comments). Meaning even when there are many comments on a file, you're always seeing the most recent by default since those are most likely the ones that are most timely for you to see.
The change is that the most recent are now just at the bottom of the sidebar closer to the area where you write a new comment.
Please do report back if you're not seeing that behavior.

I agree with Alexa, once you have multiple comments, it is a pain to scroll to the bottom. If you want to leave it in its current form at least have an option to change the sort order.

When collaborating, once there are a few comments going, it is extremely irritating having to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest discussion. Please restore the default sorting to be newest comment first!
