Thanks for your great suggestion! We know this capability would be hugely valuable. This is not something we’re currently working on, but we’re always considering feedback from customers like you in how we work with Microsoft to enhance secure productivity and collaboration.

Microsoft have this functionality for their document platform OneDrive as detailed here: https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Integrations/Box-for-Office-Integrations/ta-p/324#bfo_rtca
This allows any users to save a file in OneDrive, and then anyone with an Office 365 account can collaborate on the file in real-time in the desktop apps due to the file being on OneDrive.
This 100% should be a feature for BOX Drive!

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, we are unable to prioritize this against our other priorities at this time.

I can't understand why you cannot remove yourself from a BOX Notes file... I've been using both for 2 months now and already have the left hand column history of BOX Notes full with old notes I'll never use again. I don't want to delete the file off BOX... maybe I'll have to convert it to MS Word... but being able to remove yourself OR the file from BOX History is a must have!

Hi there,
This ability is not currently planned but will be revisited in the future. Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Couldn't agree more - it's extremely inconvenient having to log into BOX.com to review what files/folders have collaboration or SHARE URL access assigned to them.
It'd be great to see this as an icon or something similar in BOX Drive so you can easily edit or remove these settings quickly if need be.

Microsoft allows it's users when in OneDrive to save a file and then work collaboratively in the Office 365 file on the DESKTOP APP... knowledge base article is here:
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/collaborate-on-word-documents-with-real-time-co-authoring-7dd3040c-3f30-4fdd-bab0-8586492a1f1d
This is a no-brainer and should be the exact same functionality on BOX Drive as right now all BOX user's as stuck using Office Online but could definitely be using the Desktop app for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to use the full functionality of the program.
