Add Linux to Web app QA process
The web app UX is horrible on Linux. It's not just one bug, but dozens of bugs that affect Linux and ChromeOS users.
Examples:
- Downloading a Docx will prompt you to open with Word instead
- Clicking Open will prompt you to install Box Tools
- Clicking install Box Tools will download an EXE fileAll of these are completely irrelevant and an annoying hurdle for Linux users. Box Tools for linux doesn't exist. Linux Users can't run EXE files. Open With Word doesn't make ANY sense, as Word doesn't exist for Linux.
Please fix.
49 votesThank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we do not have plans to add support for Linux to the web app at this time. We’ll continue to monitor this thread to gauge interest, and will post updates should our plans change in the future.

Please create navigation to split "shared with me" files and folders from my own files and folders, similar to OneDrive.
Please, please, create a separate view on the web to just showcase files and folders that are shared with me; rather than files/folders that are of my ownership. Similar to what other file storage providers offer, like OneDrive.
18 votesThank you for the feedback here -we are considering various ways to split shared/owned content & are considering this for the future roadmap, but don’t currently have a timeline for this.

On a shared (collaborated) folder ensure that the "Share this Folder" option is removed from all external collaborators as testing has shown that it is possible for an external collaborator (even with viewer permissions) to enable sharing and get a copy of the shared link albeit the link defaults to “internal access” only.
3 votesThanks for the feedback. Per our collaborator permission guidelines, Viewer permissions are able to see and send view-only shared links — however they cannot invite collaborators or modify sharing permissions.

Box Online support for Visio (vsdx)
Would like for Box to support Visio (vsdx).
Thanks!

Make it easier to create a free account for external collaboration
free users account creation is difficult so this lead to lower the usage of external collaboration. Hence, the users are using more shadow IT
16 votesThank you for your feedback! At this time, we cannot prioritize this feature request, however, we will keep this in mind for future iterations of our account creation experience.

Support Drag & Drop from Box Web App to Outlook
Please enable the ability to drag and drop files FROM Box Web App TO Outlook email client (including the option to insert them as links OR to add them as normal attachments). Currently there is no native Drag and Drop functionality available between the Box Web App and Outlook. Therefore, the process to add file attachments/links to emails via the Web App or Outlook Plug-In is actually currently LESS efficient with BOX than without it. Since BOX Drive is not available for virtual clients (such as Terminal Server or Citrix), their only option is to use the Web App or…

remove the character limit on invite messages. the message portion is vital my account and sending specific instructions on folder use
remove the character limit on invite messages. the message portion is vital my account and we need to sending specific instructions on folder use and access. this is best when included with the link to the folder as sent by box. ALSO there is nowhere on the site or in the share section that even states there is now a character limit, instead it's just kicking back the invite and preventing it from being sent.

ELIMINATE the display message " We're sorry, this file type is not currently supported" " as it terrifies our customers
Display message "We're sorry, this file type is not currently supported" scares our customers on the download shared link page. They think it is an ERROR and will not download the .ISO or other file that cannot be PREVIEWED. Make the message SPECIFIC to PREVIEW:
"Preview not available for this file type, click Download to continue"
or just
"Preview not available for this file type"Saying it is UNSUPPORTED means too many bad things. If this is not fixed, we will leave BOX. Seriously.
3 votesInteresting feature request! However, we’re not able to prioritize it at this time due to competing priorities.

Enhance and support the Box Embed Widget for mobile browsers.
We outsource hosting and presenting documents to Box. We allow our users to upload documents in our app and we upload them to Box via API. Later on, when users want to view the file, we ask the Box API for an iframe URL and embed it in our app. So, in the end, no one is logged in to any box applications, because we use the API under the hood.
16 votesThank you for the submission. We are currently collecting use cases and feature requests for the Box Embed widget, and are considering it for update in a future planning cycle. We do not have a timeline for this at present, but ask you to continue to submit feedback here in the meantime.

Export all Collaborators on an item from Web UI
As an editor - when I go to a folder, I can see everyone collaborated into that folder.
On the right hand side, I can click on a user or on an icon that shows + x number people. When I do that it opens a page showing a table of users collaborated in.
Name/ Email address/ Permission / Date Added/ Added ToI would love a button to click which would simply export a .csv of that table.
Seems simple as that table is presented on the web page.
13 votesThanks for the suggestion! While I definitely see the usefulness of being able to export a report of collaborators on an item, we don’t plan to launch this feature in the near term as we’re focused on other various collaboration improvements.

See file size of previous versions
Want to be able to see the previous version file sizes without having to download the previous files.

Custom collaboration expiration periods for individual folder collaborators
Currently, the only options for collaboration expiration on a folder is set at an enterprise level.
The request is multipart, for the options to
1) Set a custom collaboration expiration period at the folder level only (regardless of what the enterprise setting is)
2) Set different expiration periods (e.g. 30 days vs 60 days) for different collaborators or groups within the folder49 votes -
Allow folder owner to report on collaborators in their folders
We would like the ability to have a folder owner search for a specific collaborator to see all the folders (that is owned by the folder owner) that they are collaborating on

Add column for Modified date, and allow sorting on it.
It would be really handy to be able to add a column for and sort based on "Modified date" field. Currently the "Updated" column is not useful if you are doing content migrations from outside sources. While the files maintain the "modified date", they get an "Updated date" of the day it was migrated.
We are considering migrating our existing LAN contents to Box. Our users frequently need to sort on last modified date. We are uploading all data to Box and retaining the original date stamps where possible. Sorting is key.

Add ability to change sort order of comments
In the latest UI, comments on files are sorted in chronological order instead of reverse chronological order. I'd like the option to change my sort order so that newest comments are listed first.
17 votesAs part of the usability enhancements rolling out in the update noted here here – https://community.box.com/t5/Box-Product-Updates/Simplified-Sharing-Public-Beta/idi-p/64620 – we updated the Activity sidebar in Preview to sort comments with the latest comment at the bottom, aligning with the comment composer’s location at the bottom and to make way for future updates planned for the sidebar. As a result, we don’t plan to change sort order.

On the browser interface, the option to Sync and Download should be the top two options in the menu
On the browser interface, the option to Sync a file or folder is in the secondary, “More Options” section of the fly-out menu. Shouldn’t "Sync" and "Download" be the top two options on the fly-out menu? That’s what most of us want to do when we use the browser interface.
1 voteThanks for the feedback! While we’re always looking for ways to improve usability on the site, we don’t plan to make this change since we’re moving toward the ‘Mark for Offline’ feature with the newer Box Drive desktop app as the long-term replacement for the ‘syncing’ features of Box Sync.
If you haven’t checked out Box Drive, I recommend downloading it and trying it out, especially now that it allows you to view all of your Box folders and files directly within Windows Explorer / macOS Finder on your desktop, and you can simply right-click a folder and choose ‘make available offline’ right from your desktop too.

Make it easier for users to specify their preferred text editor (or any other type of editor)
In many tech companies, different developer staff have different preferences on what text editors to use when editing files with Box Edit. Although the default editor for text files can be changed by modifying a registry key on the user's PC, the customer IT team (who does not like the idea of users modifying their PC registry) would like to have a user option where the user can specify their preferred text editor (similar to what is currently available in the Box user settings for Word, PPT and Excel files).
1 voteThe Box Edit app relies on the ‘default’ app settings that you have chosen at the OS-level (meaning in Windows settings or macOS settings) for what is the ‘default’ app for opening a given file type. If you’d like a specific file type opened in a different desktop app on their computer, simply change your default app settings within your Windows or macOS settings.
We only have a native preference in the Box web app when a specific file type has additional cloud-based editing integrations available on Box (like Office files, for example).

Make login page more intuitive for non-managed users
When users or collaborators visit Box from the customer's account, they get confused when they get directed to their SSO page and not the login page.
A suggestion is to have the user input their username before getting redirected to the SSO page or make the “not a part of COMPANY?” a bigger option and more visible for the user.

Remove multiple collaborators from folders
Box currently does not have a way to remove multiple collaborators at bulk.
Currently, admin needs to manually remove multiple users by opening the appropriate folder and removing users one at a time.Suggestion can also apply to removing collaborators from multiple folders.
