Ability for a folder owner to opt-out of email notifications when a collaborator shares or accepts an invitation
An Admin owns all folders for the enterprise and she receives an email every time a collaborator invites another user to the folder, and then again when it's accepted.
It caused a lot of noise in her inbox. Short of setting up an Outlook rule, the Admin would like to opt-out of these notifications.
This would be helpful for enterprises whose admin's own the content, or at least root level folders for their users.

Create annotations that aren’t visible to other users
Annotation that only the user/owner can see and not to other collaborators.

Specific to this request, we do not plan to expose the ability to mark up a file (with highlights, drawings, etc.) with annotations that aren’t visible to other users. The primary use case for annotations in Box is to share feedback on a given file, like these examples:
“Update this paragraph to be here instead” on a document or “Change the color of this to blue” on an image -

Map AD groups to co-admin roles
Like many large companies, we use AD groups for privileged roles like reporting and team management. There is no current way to map these AD groups into co-admin roles and the Box admin must set these manually.
This does not scale and is a major admin overhead for IT departments to have multiple places to administer something as simple as being able to generate reports or edit metadata templates.
8 votesThis does sound like a huge burden for admins and I’d like to hear more about how you’d use existing AD groups to grant co-admin permissions. We are looking into extending our APIs to allow admins to set co-admin permissions, which may alleviate the pain of setting the permissions manually.
However, we don’t currently have any plans to take the AD groups and map them to co-admin permissions at this time.

Box used to have style options for the embed folder/file widget.
We liked the option to customize the Box Embed widget since we embed content on sites like intranets.
When the style options change or are taken away, it really impacts site consistency. Now, we can now only select the widget size, but don't see the Dark or Light option any longer.

Allow security classifications to hide content if the viewer is an external collaborator
In addition to the classification level impacting sharing permissions, include the option to hide/block files from external collaborators in the folder

Viewer does NOT see Download button in Context Menu ('...' menu) nor in Action Bar when multiple items are selected
.Given that Viewers have the ability to download watermarked files, the Download button should appear everywhere as normal. This ticket is to add the Download button in the following two locations for Viewers:

Have Box Notes Accessed via Drive Open in Box Notes Desktop Application
Right now, when a user opens a Box Note from Drive on their desktop, the note is opened in the webapp, rather than the Box Notes desktop app they have installed.
A better flow would be to have those notes open in the Notes desktop app instead

Enable remote uploads with Box API
Allow remote uploads with our upload API. OneDrive and Dropbox allow this method.

Make Box Lightning Component Pack for Community Cloud IDs field driven instead of static
Rather than a static file / folder ID it would be great to be able to configure the component to allow dynamic IDs based off folders associated to new Salesforce records

FTPS access for collaborators to a subfolder rather than through root level credentials
Use Case: Research studies using radiology images that come in large image sets from tools like MRI scanners which can have hundreds to thousands of images which make it impossible or impractical to use the web interface.
However, they are still external collaborators who should have the ability to send files.

Ability to generate shared links with the same settings for multiple items in a folder
We would like the ability to multi-select content, generate shared link references to the content, and either have the result exported to a CSV file or into a table formatted Box Note with File Name and shared link URL.
We are looking to displace existing Wiki functionality in favor of Box

Ability to invite external deactivated users with steps to get their account reactivated
Current method takes several steps.
Our admin deals with several hundred vendors regularly; invites all to collaborate via active email list.
Admin then has to send separate emails indicating that if they did not receive an invitation they need to contact 'Box' support to have their account reactivated and include the appropriate Box link.
