Ability to Annotate / Markup Files (documents, images, etc.)
Users can currently comment on files, and this request is to extend that functionality to allow users to add annotations to specific locations within a document or file.
Specific types of annotations to support:
— Drawing (e.g., circles, arrows, freehand, etc.)
— Point
— Highlight
We are were happy to announced that Annotations was launched on web in June this year and will launch on mobile soon. We are constantly building and improving the experience so please let us know your feedback. More details below

The annotations feature is nice. Is the ability to draw on a photo (rather than just comment) going to be available directly within BOX?

We do a lot of mentorship and Q&A in healthcare-related to photos and x-rays. Frequently we draw all over the Xrays and photos to highlight areas of concern, suggest changes - all with drawings, arrows and sometimes with comments. Currently, to get around this, I have to view a photo in Box, take a screenshot, draw on the photo and upload the markup. It interrupts the "conversation" we are having (in comments area) because it is a new file upload. If I can mark up the existing file and have the markup appear as comments or the most current version, OR if I could place the image in Box notes and then mark on the image in box notes with drawing tools, this would be helpful. I have to stress though, that it would need to be usable on the mobile platform. It is not that ******* desktop to simply open the image (.jpg, .png, .gif) with Box into the Paint program, edit it and save it again, but that is not how it works on mobile and we do nearly everything on the go.

Users (and our partners system integrators ) would like to add text on preview, add draw (circle square ) on preview as well. Also to have a kind of link between annotations and comments. E.g. I add an annotation like a small button on the preview. It displays a ‘1’ on which I can click that is comment labeled with ‘1’

Get the possibility to add comments directly on the preview of a .dwg file and that these comments are inserted into a new version of the previewed file.
To check several files it would be a very efficient functionality. -

This capability would make Box.com the centerpiece of my work structure and allow me to reduce the number of tools I use to review pdfs/artwork from 5 tools to only 1 which would be box.com. I cannot stress enough the importance of this update.

Our company does a lot of collaboration using the core Office suite tools. To be able to use the mentioned annotations options - i.e. drawing circles/arrows, inserting point or target of comment, and/or highlighting - in Word docs (an option to Word's included 'Track changes' and commenting features with annotated comments that include @-mentioning support and logs resolved comments), in Excel (being able to point/highlight cells in various parts of a spreadsheet) and in PowerPoint (annotate 'in progress' slide decks) would be advantageous.
Having such ability for these document types and the others already specified (PDF, Apple's Office Suite) and other filetypes that it might support (image files, maybe even video), all available in one application would be a powerful new featureset that further improves Box's collaboration potential.

We need the capability to draw annotations i.e. circles, arrows etc. when previewing the pdf in the webapp.
When looking at a view it is much easier and visual to draw if you e.g. want to move a logo from one point to another instead of trying to describe in text.
