This is the natural behavior for lexicographic sorting which treats everything as a string. We are unlikely to change this behavior in the near- or mid-term.

Since the new UI,
"Today I can open an individual file in a new browser tab by pressing [Command + Click], but it is not intuitive."
I can no longer even do this.
This is very inconvenient and I hope it will be implemented.
