Thank you for the feedback! At this time, we cannot prioritize this request, but will keep this under consideration for future feature prioritization.

An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedI would agree that this would be useful or less flexible would be to link metadata templates.
Here's a situation that the filter on multiple would be useful
We have "Project" and "Manufacturing Order" metadata templatesProject would have just the identifiable number.
Manufacturing Order template could have release status, and work locationIt would be unnecessary redundancy to include this same field on the Manufacturing Order template, but would be useful to be able to search for both "Project number" and "Released" Manufacturing orders.

This is a feature we would love to get to, but unfortunately it is not on our short term roadmap. Please continue adding your feedback!

An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedI believe this coincides with what I would like to see. For example
We apply a cascading metadata template to a "Project" folder. One of the attributes is "Project Status".
Currently if the value of "Project Status" is changed, that update does not propagate without toggling the policy on/off. It would be beneficial to have at least the option to propagate future value changes to children.John Nickell supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedEven in the new UI Beta, there's a disconnect
I would agree that there's a disconnect. For a file, you must "preview" the file to "view details" to see metadata info.
For a folder you "Edit" and it comes up in a separate popup window (in which you can edit)
Personally I prefer the popup window method for a file at this point.John Nickell supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedSimilar to this, it would be useful to be able to "link" to another folder without requiring the creation of a "shared link". To add an option to browse Box to find the bookmark target would be beneficial I think.

Hello, unfortunately this is not on our roadmap at this time. Please feel free to continue leaving feedback and comments, as we may consider this again in the future.
An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedThis would be beneficial in situations where the organization (like us) are trying to use Box as our primary collaborative workspace. Currently if I want pull information from a file stored on Box, I either need to leverage Box Desktop, or create a shared link (with wide open permissions) to access the file. An official connector would be much appreciated.

This seems like it would be better solved with a search improvement to Box Drive. If not, let us know in the comments.
John Nickell supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedThis looks very similar if not identical to the idea post in this suggestion: 36113086. To avoid getting marked as a spammer, I'm voting and making my comment here.
I would add another use case for this that better search would not address. When trying to collaborate between people, a user, get's a shared link via Box drive and then emails this link to their coworker.
If the coworker, clicks on the link, their computer will open the link in Box's Web App. Adding a "Open in Box Drive" widget in the webapp would aid the coworker in getting back to the Box Drive folder they may intend on working from anyway.
Within a company this could also minimize the disruption caused by various permissions levels that would make the folder path different per person. -

Thanks for the feedback! This isn’t currently planned, but please keep the use cases coming to help us prioritize it.
An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedUse Case: We are trying to improve visibility of where content related to a given "project" is located. Most of this content is located under the central project folder. which the recent changes allow us to assign metadata at the folder level.
It would be helpful to allow someone to assign a metadata template and properties of a folder, without having to open the WebApp and then navigate to the Metadata pane to assign these values.
This would improve the use of Metadata by making easier to access, thus hopefully making it more accurate.John Nickell shared this idea · -

Thanks for the suggestion. Typically updates between box.com and Box Drive should happen very quickly. If they are not, we’d recommend filing a support ticket in case there is an issue.

This is not planned in the near future due to other higher priority initiatives.
An error occurred while saving the comment John Nickell commentedPairing this idea with the automation request of returning a Job ID that was submitted by another user. This would be great if for example you copy a large folder, and are wondering "is it done" before you can allow other tasks to be performed on the original source folder.
A Job ID would at least give you something to look for.

This would be beneficial to help promote use of webapp instead of Box Drive where this kind of experience is native to Windows Explorer/Finder.
We have a similar use case as the original poster.
