Box Shield
It is common that companies have non-executive directors, and that they work without corporate email accounts. They could use gmail or another personal email accounts so they might want to blacklist free email domains, but have special dispensation for these exec's email addresses. So blocking all free email domains, with an additional granularity to allow certain addresses on a whitelist.

Increase number of concurrent Box Notes editors
Box Notes currently allows only 20 concurrent editors. For a conference or other large gathering it may be useful to have 100+. Please consider increasing the limit, or replacing the hard limit with an in-UI warning (e.g., "You have more than 30 people editing and performance may be reduced").
In the meantime, also please clearly document the maximum concurrent user limit and behavior in the KB.
37 votesWe are now supporting 30 concurrent editors. We will aim to increase this limit in the future.

Add separate "status" column to Box Drive application
Box Drive has a known issue of overlay iconography sometimes not displaying after installed. This is affecting about 10% of our client installs and is an absolute headache and nightmare to resolve without registry updates.
This is caused due to the Box Drive apps's reliance on the "ImageList_SetOverlayImage" function in Windows which has a hard limit of 15 values. Thus Box Drive's icons "compete" with other cloud providers' icons on priority and is totally unsustainable as you are at the mercy of how other cloud providers code their software to take precedence over others in this list (by playing the…

Add hardware token security for 2FA
Yubikeys and similar devices allow for hardware token security and are highly recommended. We want to implement it across devices (ipad, iphone, android, MacOS, Windows) and this must include Box
SMS 2 factor is considered very hackable and has been hacked many times.
How can we use Yubikeys with Box.com ? What are your plans on this?75 votesThis feature is GA as of Feb 11, 2026. https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/49037223608211-Box-introduces-support-for-physical-security-keys-for-multi-factor-authentication-Feb-2026

Please consider combining all of chains requesting 2-factor authentication via the likes of Google Authenticator and/or Yubikey
There are several chains below which are basically requesting the same thing. If you combined all of those into one chain, I'm pretty sure the combined total votes would be the highest in the Security topic. Providing 2-factor authentication via something like Google Authenticator and/or options like Yubikey is absolutely necessary. If we are not given this option, our auditor will require that we stop using Box within about 2 months. I'm doing everything I can to keep Box. It works so well for my team. I don't want to lose it. PLEASE make this a priority.

Accessibility concern
I am a screen reader user and appreciate the option to turn on the Accessible Version of BOX. I do this frequently, as it greatly improves the usability of the site for me as a screen reader user. But if I'm already in a folder or looking at a document, when I click that link, it takes me out of the document I was in and back to my main list of files and folders. And often, it makes me sign in all over again. When the Accessible Version of Box link is activated, it would be much better if…
2 votesIn 2022 Box Web achieved substantial conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0, level AA. Box web includes more features than a.box.com and has a more convenient experience for authenticating and previewing files.
Going forward, Box will strive to provide a universal experience rather than a separate accessibility site. In 2023 a.box.com will be retired and all users will use Box Web (app.box.com). We recommend transitioning off of a.box.com as soon as possible.
We are continually working to improve the usability and accessibility of Box Web. Any feedback on the usability or accessibility of Box Web is welcome.

Saving File Request Options
If you open “…” > File Request in the folder, you will see the “File Request” function.
There are 4 items in “Customize options” of file request.
There is a checkbox for each.If you close the screen with this checkbox selected, the next time you open it, it is unchecked.
Can there be a save button so that we are not mistaken that we selected settings for the link? Or can the settings remain checked so that when we re-open the option, we can see that we did select settings for the link?

File Request link upload notification
We want a feature of email notification which send to the actual user who uploaded the file.
I understand that if "require users to provide email" option is enabled, users can confirm the uploader's email address on web app. I found that the email address was shown in “Updated” column.
However, users cannot confirm the actual uploader from the report, and email notifications will only be sent to users who enabled notification settings of "upload" in their folder settings or account settings.
Enabling the above feature makes it much easier to confirm if the user successfully uploaded the file.
8 votesUsers can now use the send notification outcome as part of a relay + file request workflow.

File Request Notifications when the folder owner is the admin on silent mode
We are aware that users can get notifications for uploads done via File Request Link - However, these notifications are based off the folder owner.
Some enterprises have silent mode enabled on the admin, which suppresses the admin activity. If the admin is the owner of the folder, no notifications will be sent for these file request uploads.
We would like to request a way or setting for the uploads done via file request link, to send a notification - regardless of silent mode.
1 voteWe released a new outcome called “Send notifications” which solves for this request.

Either/Or Approvers
Currently Relay does not support "either/or" approvers.
We have use cases where we have multiple approvers in a process but only need a certain amount of approvers to continue the workflow. i.e. There are 3 approvers in a process but we only need 2 out of the 3 to approve.

manage metadata in Relay for both file and folder
In Relay when You need to manage metadata the only possibility is on file.
Why not on folder?
The most suitable way is to have the possibility to manage for BOTH.17 votesHello All,
Previously, Box customers were able to apply metadata templates and update metadata values automatically on files, as part of Relay outcome.
However, they were not able to do the same for folders, which limited their ability to leverage metadata for enhancing their search, information management and business process automation.
We have now released the ability to add metadata templates and update metadata on folders automatically in Relay outcomes. This enables customers to apply metadata at scale automatically or as part of automating their business process, and not have to do it a a separate step outside the workflow.
A new ‘Folder Action’ option is now available in the ‘Metadata’ outcome in the Relay builder.
For more information, see the "Metadata outcome options' section of this article - Understanding Triggers and Outcomes in RelayThanks,

Prevent Users from navigating to other folders when using Salesforce
Currently the Box for Salesforce integration utilizes a simple embed widget, which allows a user to navigate out of the associated Box folder to other areas of their Box account, all while still in the same Salesforce case. This is a security and use concern for some customers as files can be accidentally uploaded to folders not related to the current case. From a UI perspective, simply taking away the file path buttons would get the job done.

Box Drive IO performance abysmal
The performance of box drive read/write operations is sometimes a bit slow (10%) and other times abysmal.
Based on tests, scrubbing through timeline in an editing software like premiere pro is jittery whereas it is fast on onedrive which I believe does delayed sync and doesn't impact IO that much.
When unzipping a file containing numerous files and folders however the performance is so bad that it's not doable, it's in the neighborhood of 40x slower so a throughput of 140 MB/s turns into 3MB/srecommended actions: optimize IO of the mount point, providing option to turn off on the…

Log Access Policy Violations
Box currently only logs successful actions. We would like to see when a user attempts to share content that is blocked by Shield Access policies. From a DLP and insider threat perspective this would be huge in determining what people are attempting to do, not just what they are successful at doing.

Enhance Box reporting feature
Box’s limited and slow reporting abilities are frustrating for their customers. This has been the same for past 7+ years of me working on Box.
It makes harder for IT teams to believe and justify to our business users that an application that cannot spin a basic out of box report on stored content for days, is the “Enterprise “ solution we recommend for our public company. And we have no other option but to wait for days for the report to “hopefully” work.
