We have Excel files that reference each other that we moved from local drives to Box Drive. The links change to whatever box folder we move them to, but the path is listed as "C:\users\username\filename"... etc. We need these links to reference the actual Box URL so that other people who have access to the file can still get the updated reference.46 votes
The Box Drive folder can now be placed in a ‘general’ location outside of C:\users\username. This should resolve your issue. More information can be found here: https://community.box.com/t5/Deploying-Managing-Box-Drive/Configuring-the-Default-Box-Drive-Folder-Location/ta-p/66248
Create changes to workflow builder functionality:
1. Allow folder Editors to be able to build workflows (we have very few co-admins)
2. Allow the workflow builder to specify who is assigning the task (or make it generic.) Just because Bob builds the workflow doesn't mean his name should be on the assigning task.25 votes
Thanks for your feedback!
1. Editors are now able to build workflows (delivered in Q1)
2. We’ll certainly investigate the task assignee feedback in future feature updates as well, thanks!
Display warning if you are opening a file in, for example, Word Desktop when someone else has it open in Word Online.
I know that you can see that teeny icon in the upper right of the preview window when someone is editing the file in Word Online, for example. But it would be great if there were a warning that pops up to tell you that someone has it open in Online, and to warn you of the consequences of editing it in Desktop. Users get really freaked out when they get the conflict error after the fact, and a warning would at least explain the consequences.22 votes
Hello. This feature already exists in Box. When you have a file open in an online editor (either Office Online or GSuite), there are two indicators that this is occurring:
(1) a tinycon next to the file name to indicate an open online editing session
(2) the Open With menu is restricted only to the current online editing session, so you can join a co-editing session for the active tool, but desktop and any other editing tools are disabled for entry
We have 15000 users and trying to manage manual updates for Drive is tedious and often painful.17 votes
Box Drive will silently update without user interaction if an update is available when the user launches Box Drive (such as after they reboot their machine)
We would like the ability to better manage templates of existing content so that he can very easily replicate a folder structure within Box for ongoing projects.15 votes
Thanks for your feedback! It is possible to automate the creation of a folder structure in Box Relay today by using a combination of the Create Folder and Copy File outcomes
Support for bi-directional content sync, among other things13 votes
Is this request different from our existing integrations with Procore?
Such as: The ability to nominate specific folders and all content within for which a report should be generated; Timestamp for when a Shared link was created; Who created it; What share permission was set and any settings that were applied; Timestamp for when a Shared link was changed/updated; What the new permission and settings are; Who changed it; Timestamp for when a shared link was removed; Who removed it13 votes
Try using the User Activity report to see all of this info.
Currently, users would need to click on a picture to preview it, then close the preview in order to preview something else. This is not an acceptable user experience.
Dropbox does provide this functionality. Would it be possible to add the "swipe" option to navigate between previews?10 votes
This feature is currently available in our iOS app when previewing images. When on an image preview, swipe left or right to view other images in the folder.
To see all images in a folder at once, you can also take advantage of gallery view. From an image preview, tap on the icon in the top right corner that looks like four squares. This will launch you into gallery mode, allowing you to see all images in a folder and select between them.
The customer has a requirement to be able to export information out of Relay in report of Excel format - ex) export a report of the steps completed in a workflow with due dates, dates of completion, by whom etc so they can present this information to clients or have it for internal audits. the workflow dashboard view is a helpful visual but they don't want to click in to each workflow to visually consume that information each time and be able to send it to other folks outside of Relay10 votes
Available in Relay
Customer wants the ability to push an approved item into multiple folders at once, which would be done using Box automations with metadata, where specific metadata can be added to push items into specific folders. For example adding metadata ?a?, ?b? and ?c? to a document will move the file to folders ?a?, ?b? and ?c?.9 votes
Paid Relay customers can leverage metadata to configure different outcomes
If an admin has the "Restrict content creation" setting turned on in Admin Console -> Enterprise Settings -> Content & Sharing, the new note button will be grayed out. This is because new notes are created at the first-level (root folder) and this setting blocks that.We should provide a workaround - either still allowing the 'My Box Notes' folder to be auto-created or by replacing the 'New Note' button with additional functionality that allows the user to choose an existing location in which to create the new note.9 votes
This issue has been addressed. Users should see a folder picker to choose a default Notes location when “Restrict content creation” is enabled for their enterprise.
Instead of doing a new search each time, it would be great to be able to save a search and run it at any time with one click. That search could appear in your All Files view as a Search Folder (e.g., named "New PDFs re XYZ") and when you click the folder it runs the search; or as a saved search accessible on the left menu.8 votes
Hi, it is currently possible to save a search by using the URL. See https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696314-Search-for-Files-Folders-and-Content for instructions on how to save a search and bookmark it.
Currently Relay can copy a file or a folder, but not all the contents of a folder to a location. This would be really useful for content propagation, where the use case would be that every time a folder is created copy the content of a template to it.8 votes
This is possible today with the “copy folder” outcome.
Admins would like to have the ability to force a log out from all devices and sessions. This could be for:
- User termination
- User's SSO credentials compromised (attacker could grant access to a third party app, which keeps a session alive even if sso credentials are reset)
On an API perspective, there could be an endpoint which destroys all tokens for a user, and it would require "manage users" from an admin perspective.8 votes
This possible today by logging in as user and blowing away all sessions.
Scenario: Employees have improperly stored data in box.com by marking data as public that should not have been labeled in such a manner. The data is sufficiently sensitive that the company would like to quantify and evaluate what has been labeled in such a way to make the data public.8 votes
It sounds like what is being asked for here is a content report that includes history for when content was marked public. This information can be found by running a User Activity report for Collaboration and Shared Links type events: https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Admins/Running-Reports/ta-p/26790#useractivity.
Allow different logons for Google and Box in the GSuite Integration.7 votes
Users would like a permission level with edit permissions, but without the ability to delete.7 votes
This is an existing feature – the ‘Viewer Uploader’ role provides ‘edit’ rights but without the ability to delete.
See this complete table of permissions for more information: https://community.box.com/t5/Collaboration-and-Sharing/What-Are-The-Different-Access-Levels-For-Collaborators/ta-p/144
Would love to have boolean search support for both the web and Drive. If anything, an functional wildcard would be extremely useful.5 votes
Hi, we currently support the boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT. We support prefix matching on titles. You can find more information here: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696314-Search-for-Files-Folders-and-Content.
