Root Folder Organization: Organize folders into personal subfolders even if they are not owners
Requesting ability to move folders shared with you into sub-folders you choose to create & manage (not impacting the true location/hierarchy of the shared folder itself established by the folder owner)
The Collections feature solves for this problem by allowing users to manage their collections and naming them in a way that makes sense to them.

Comments from admin said it was on roadmap for 2019. Is this possible now?

I have 12 folders named "2021" in my top level Box folder. I can't move them or rename them, because they were shared with me. This is really frustrating - I have to somehow remember that something important is in these folders and then linearly search through them to find the right one. The ability to both move (within my Box drive) and rename locally would be ideal.

Collections option launched does not solve the need for multi-level custom folder structure that would be a big welcom for all useres I suppose.

When you create your own file folders, you understand the hierarchy and where to locate files. When others share with you, it is very difficult to organize efficiently so that you can quickly go to the folders you may require. The greater span of information you participate in makes this extremely complex because you may not want every shared folder to be in your favorites; however, you may need to reference from time to time. Advanced categorizing is a MUST.

This is a critical tool for organization and does not make use of Box simple for this reason.

This is extremely important, because I have hundreds of shared folders, and I have no way of organizing them into sub-folders.

Multiple members of my team have very cluttered Root Folders & have requested the ability to move shared shared folders into subfolders to organize their folders. The lack of this capability creates clutter which reduces efficiency. Please provide this to Box users!

This would be extremely helpful in situations where I have been added as a collaborator on multiple external shares from multiple companies. I can than group all the shares from “Company A” in a virtual “Company A” folder and the same with all the other companies.
Even in with internal shares, I may want to categorize folders into groups that make sense for me. Such as “Prior Year”, “Current Year” and “Future” as I may oversee a cross functional group and have multiple departments add me as a collaborator on specific folders in their department.

We often have people request the ability to rename folders shared with them to help better organize their root. For example, I am the owner of a folder hierarchy that looks like this:
Risk MGMT Explorer Rollout > Risk Explorer Collection > Country Teams > Cambodia
While I have access to the whole hierarchy (giving all the folder names useful context), the collaborators in Cambodia just see a folder named “Cambodia” at their root.
It would be great if the collaborators in the Cambodia folder could give the folder an alias that makes more sense to them, such as “Our Risk MGMT folder”. Also, it would be great if Box could indicate that the folder has been given an alias, perhaps by giving it a special color and clickable icon that would show the true folder name and path.

In addition to what others have said (to which I concur), I find this problem to be especially frustrating using Box Sync. I prefer to sync files locally on my computer to edit, add, etc. It is very hard to search this way because it uses Windows search features (not tags or Box users).
So my root Box Sync directory is useless (organizationally speaking).
Like others, I want to move shared folders into my own folders such as "Teaching", "Research", "Student". It is currently unmanageable.

In response to a previous comment, if a user can't keep track of their folder structure that's their problem, you don't take away the basic function of organizing folders because someone can't build a sensible storage system. Take every folder on your windows computer and dump it in one folder, then go look for stuff. Total waste of time. For small users this isn't an issue, for others it renders box useless.

I still can't believe this isn't possible, I still think someone isn't understanding what I'm asking but this is it. If I have dozens of shared folders from outside they all end up lumped in a pile together in my root folder with all our internal work? It's unbelievable and forcing me to look for another solution. All Box has to do is point to the particular folder on each end, why should the software care where it's located on each local hierarchy? Send the request to a root location table, updated with any local changes, that just points to the destination. I don't know why every user shouldn't be able to organize their own account any way they want. It's Windows, been around for more than three decades.

- Allow user to move the collaborated folder from top directory
- Allow user to change the folder name(which will not change the original folder name) -

I understand that the go to response to this request will be one of the following:
i) Use Box Search, Favourites, or Recents
ii) Good Information Architecture: make sure you implement clear team structures for users to share content to avoid new collaboration folders being created in first place
iii) Training and Change Management: Box is a different way of working than traditional network file shares so we need to encourage users to do the right thing, and to also periodically remove yourself from folders you have been invited to.Regardless, this is the number one topic I hear when talking about Box with users. One suggested solution is to allow users to drag folders they have been collaborated into a sub folder in their 'All Files' page (effectively allowing them to organize the folders in their own way)
Another way might be to have a smart filter or tab when you log in that you can set as a default view to only show folders you have created / own (effectively hiding all folders you have been collaborated into)

My organization uses box to share and collaborate on files. However, every time someone shares a folder with me, it goes into the root folder and cannot be renamed or moved into another folder that can be renamed. Because of this, my root drive is a mess of folders, many with nearly identical names.
This makes box unusable as a file organization tool. If you can't organize anything, what's the point?

This sounds good in theory but fundamentally goes against Box's core design. Imagine the amount of issues you are going to have when a user can't find something and you can't even tell them where the file is since the location is technically "different"
