Our office uses the Latitude and Longitude metadata that the Box Capture
app automatically places in the file (see two examples below). Since the
Capture app is being sunset, we need to ensure that our donor recognition
images maintain the GPS metadata visibility in Box.Per Box support: Case #2737083
I understand that one of your users has noticed that photos taken with the Box mobile app while the "Photo GPS data" setting is enabled maintain the associated metadata when downloaded but this metadata isn't visible within 'preview' on Box.com. Previously, photos taken with the 'Box Capture' were able to collect and show location metadata within preview on Box.com. Is this correct?
After clarifying this behavior with our mobile team, I can outline that this change in behavior is expected. Currently, Photo GPS data collected via the Box Mobile app (capture feature) is not able to be viewed within 'preview' on the Box web application (Box.com).
The best way to view the photo GPS data associated with files created using the Box mobile app (capture feature) would be to open the file locally on your device, and view file details.
If this is an improvement that you would like to see considered within future updates to the Box mobile application we would recommend submitting your feedback via our Box Pulse page. Box Pulse is the best place for our product teams to see what features or functionalities our users are most requesting and incorporate user feedback into our vision for our Box Products moving forward.Thanks for considering,
John Kelly

Box storage platform already has optimizations in place to intelligently detect active (most recently and frequently used) data, and migrate it to cost-effective tiers. Great suggestion though!

This is a great suggestion, and I can definitely see the usefulness of such a feature. Based on current priorities, I don’t foresee us being able to implement this feature in the short-term.

Thank you for the feedback here -we are considering various ways to split shared/owned content & are considering this for the future roadmap, but don’t currently have a timeline for this.

This change would require a shift to a completely new architecture, which is not planned at this time.

We are currently not planning to implement this feature and will continue to prevent all Box Drive results from appearing in Explorer/Finder searches.
Box Drive does not download the all of the metadata (File name, folder structure, etc.) of your Box content. Instead, it is downloaded on demand and then evicted when it is no longer relevant. This eviction process is not visible to users and it is not easily predictable. This would cause the search results in Explorer/Finder to be inconsistent for users – sometimes they would find a file and other times they may not if the metadata and file were evicted.
We have chosen not to download all of the metadata (and then keep it up to date with changes) as this can result in a large performance, storage and bandwidth tax which is not scalable – especially in environments where users interface with millions of files/folders.

It's hard to break this habit by getting people to only work/open files via a browser. Many people will use File Explorer or Finder to search and open their documents. Windows File Explorer Search is not the same as Box Search. Any/all improvements to searching thru File Explorer for Box Drive content is needed and appreciated.

Reasonable to charge for versions. But we need a way to help us identify number of versions by file. Seems like a reasonable request.
Reasonable = reasonable
