  1. Add ability for administrators to prevent managed users from changing their profile information.

Most importantly, prevent managed users from changing their display name to something inappropriate ("CEO")

  2. Ability to Annotate / Markup Files (documents, images, etc.)

Users can currently comment on files, and this request is to extend that functionality to allow users to add annotations to specific locations within a document or file.

Specific types of annotations to support:
    — Drawing (e.g., circles, arrows, freehand, etc.)
    — Point
    — Highlight

  3. Allow Searching by Last Name - Invite Collaborators / Email Shared Link / Comment @Mentions

In the Invite Collaborators modal (and other locations such as the Comment composer), Box's autocomplete feature only allows the user to search by either email address and/or first AND last name.

Meaning for user John Doe with email jdoe@box.com, a search for...
    --"John D" will populate correctly
    --"jdoe" will populate correctly
    --"Doe" will NOT populate correctly

REQUEST: Allow searching by last name (without having to enter first name before).

Thank you for submitting this request. We’re pleased to announce that we have added support for searching by last name and email address when sharing from the Box web application. We hope to expand this functionality to our comments support in a future release.

  4. Custom Watermarking

User would like the ability to increase the size of the watermarks, as well as the frequency that it shows up on the documents

  5. Show Exact Timestamp for Comments (Instead of 'X Months Ago')

Make new Web App comment timestamps exact, just like they were in Legacy.

We’ve updated the timestamps shown in the Activity sidebar of Amsterdam for Comments and Tasks such that they now show a more logical mix of exact and relative dates. Additionally, you can always hover over a timestamp to see a tooltip with the full day/date/time for any entry.

  6. Last Activity - Add 'Last Activity' Info & Sort Option to Managed Users Page

We currently do not expose the 'Last Activity' field for Managed Users anywhere in the Admin Console.

This is a very helpful piece of information for admins to have easy access to in order to get a good idea, quickly, whether a user has recently been active in Box or not.

    REQUEST:
--Add a 'Last Activity' field/value for each user in the list of users on the Managed User page
--Add 'Sort By: Last Active Date' to the Managed Users page so that admins can easily see who is recently (or not recently active)

  7. User Trash -- Ability to search within Trash from the Web for end users

Since Box has a public-facing Search API that allows searching within the Trash, the Web App should also make use of this functionality and allow users to search in Trash from the Web. API documentation here: https://docs.box.com/reference#searching-for-content

  8. Custom Watermarking based on metadata or manually.

Opportunity where main requirement was to distribute content to various locations, but add custom watermarking as they are published out. Typically with the location name content is publisehd to.

Custom Watermarking is now live! This new capability delivers new flexibility and granularity to how content sensitivity is communicated, reducing the risk of accidental data leakage or mishandling of sensitive data.

With the new customization options, folder and file owners will be able to define the parameters of applied watermarks, including:

    • Graphical options, such as color/orientation/size, opacity and more
    • Standardized content, such as user email or IP address
    • Custom text, allowing for more granular watermarks
  9. Security Report: Log when apps are disabled/enabled in the Admin Console

Currently, when admins/co-admins mark apps as 'available' or 'disabled' in the Admin Console -> Enterprise Settings -> Apps page, no reporting event is triggered, meaning companies have no way to self-identify who enabled/disabled which applications/endpoints, and this is a major security concern for some customers.

REQUEST: Add entries to the Security Report in the admin console whenever:
    1. A published app's status is changed between Available, Disabled, and Added by Default (via the Enterprise Settings -> Apps page)
    2. An API key is added/removed from the Unpublished Applications Whitelist field on Enterprise Settings -> Apps

  10. Enterprise level option to default collaborator permission to either Viewer or Editor

We would like to default all collaborators to Viewer vs the standard/OOTB Editor role

  11. Initiate retention time period on content Based on Metadata / Attributes Upon Upload (Migration) to Box

For example, when content is uploaded to Box, applying a 7 year retention policy to content, but basing it off the last modified or created date. In this scenario, the 7 year policy would apply to the content, but it would not live for 7 years in Box - it would like for 7 years from the last modified/created date.

Transcription and translation capabilities from any ML provider can be integrated into Box today with the Box Skills Kit. These can be automatically added to Box metadata via a Box Custom Skill and viewed in the Box Preview experience.

  13. Allow preview of either the latest 99 comments on a file or all comments

If a file has more than 100 comments on it, there are 2 issues at play:
    1) the mobile app only displays 100 of the 100+ comments
    2) of the 100 comments the mobile app does display, it shows the oldest 100 comments

Ideally the mobile app could display all existing comments (aka more than 100 comments). If this is not possible or too intensive a project, instead of displaying the oldest 100 comments it should instead at least display the latest/most recent 100 comments
