Two Recommendations;
1) When a file or folder has metadata applied, having a ICON on record (similar to a shared link or description) be visible.. Currently you don't know UNLESS you select the item and do to details to see if template has been applied.

2) When metadata is applied, showing the metadata values when you select the record similar go to Details would be be great.
