  1. Ability to Enable/Disable Annotations

We would like to request for a feature to be able to enable/disable Annotations.

Annotations is very convenient, but sometimes it could make users confusing, if they do not know how to use it.
Therefore, we would be grateful if there is a feature to be able to disable Annotations, and then enabling afterwards.

  2. Allow answering annotations

Answer to someone who makes a suggestion in a comment. This is the way it's like on google drive !

  3. Retain annotations in subsequent version(s) of a document

We use annotations when a group of us is proofing and suggesting edits to a document. When we're finished, when the designer makes our edits to the document, and then uploads a new version. Unfortunately, once the new version is uploaded, unlike general comments, the annotations are gone so we can't check in our changes. It would be great if you could make it possible to view annotations from the previous version of a document. Right now, the only workaround is to avoid using annotations, or to open the previous version of the document in a separate browser window and…

  4. I want to be able to make annotations permanent in PDFs and other documents.

Good morning. I am new to Box. I would like to be able to make permanent annotations to documents (such as a PDF) and then be able to share that annotated document without having to do the annotations in another app and then re-upload them into Box. It seems like a waste of time when I am trying to streamline the process of document review. I think that many people would appreciate the ability to do this. Thank you for your consideration! Keep safe. Have a great week.

  5. Allow editing of annotations

Sometimes I want to change the comment I left with an annotation. But the only option I get is to delete the annotation. So I'm forced to copy the previous text, delete the old annotation, and create a new one. That's annoying!

  6. Annotate video preview

Being able to annotate the video preview screen is very useful for video industries.

  7. Editing existing tag names

It would be helpful to edit an existing tag name, to make it more descriptive, and have that propagate to everything already tagged. For example, I would like to change a first-round tag of "Minutes" to something more descriptive, such as "Minutes Admin Meetings." Right now, I can simply create a new tag and retag all the appropriate items with the prior. HOWEVER, every time that begin to type the name of the new tag, the old not-used one will keep appearing.

If editing an existing name is too complicated, is there a way to delete an old unused tag…

  9. Mark comments as resolved

Love the direct comments/annoations on the file because, when I'm providing feedback, I can circle where I'm referring to and then insert my comment. But when the owner makes the change, the comment is still on the slide. Owners should be able to mark the comment as resolved which hides the comment.

  10. Adding a granular sharing option for Annotations

I would like to use annotations as a personal note. It would be great if an annotation is not shared with anyone by default and a user can choose an option to share/show it with collaborators.

  11. Use of iPad’s Markup for annotating. Box’s implementation of annotations is poor.

iPads have a built in document markup function for annotating documents, it’s tragic that Box doesn’t permit this tool to function.

My current work around is to copy the file to my iPad then use Markup to annotate my document, then finally copy the annotated document back into Bix.

  12. Multiple markup, and Single comment, on annotation

If we only need to write a comment in one place after multiple markups for annotation, the work will go faster.

When annotating the same requirement in multiple places, the same annotation is currently marked up in multiple places and the same content is written multiple times.

  13. Annotation lock function

When annotating by multiple people, one annotation disappears or a conflict problem occurs.
Also, if multiple people annotate, the drawn parts will overlap, making it difficult to understand.

  14. Embed Online Annotations in Word Documents as Comments, and vice versa

There is a disparity between the online annotations and the actual Word Document when it is downloaded. I would really like to see a conversion/compatibility between Box.com online annotations and Word Document (.doc and .docx). If someone adds an annotation in the online preview of a Word Document, this should show up as a Comment in the Word Document when downloaded for offline viewing. Similarly, if someone adds a Comment in the Word Document (via MS Office application), this should show up as an annotation when viewing the preview in Box.com online.

I do see a few other requests for…

  15. Printing Annotations Attached to Box Notes

Currently annotations do not appear when a BOX Note is printed. It would be helpful if the option to print the the annotations was given as a setting.

  16. I need to be able to tag items easier and have the tags be a different color than the file name

I would like to be able to add tools to the upper tool bar; IE on the last program the "tag" feature was in the quick select tool bar at the top of the page. I use this to mark reviewed quotes once i have reviewed and entered that info into the bid. Having it a couple clicks away slows me down.

Additionally, the tags used to show up as blue, which helped our team quicker see those quotes that had been reviewed VS those that still needed to be seen. Can we make the tags blue again?
