Add "Like" button to comments
I would like to "like" comments on the preview so that is is easier to show that I have checked the comment without typing a new comment to say I have checked it.
We are now getting more use to using reactions from Slack/Teams that it would be nice to react with a "like" or a thumbs up reaction.82 votes -
Enable spell check in Annotation comments
Annotation comment pop up windows do not currently have a spell check function. Comments can be modified under the activity section, but spell check doesn't work there either.

Enable option to redact sensitive information manually via Annotations or automatically via Optimal Character Recognition (OCR).
Enable option to redact sensitive information manually via Annotations or automatically via Optimal Character Recognition (OCR).
E.g. Box Shield could add OCR functionality to Smart Access for DLP.

Warn users that annotations will not be added to a Word document as comments
Since Annotations do not get added to Word documents as comments, a warning should be presented to users stating this to avoid any confusion by the user who may be expecting this to happen.

I want to switch pages by swiping pdf or powerpoint on iPad even when in the middle of filling in annotations.
Sometimes I want to see the other page of pdf when I am in the middle of filling in annotation. However, the current behavior of Box's annotation, you need to save the annotation to move to the other page of pdf or powerpoint.

Want to have an option to skip the "Save" button
Every time a user finishes writing, the user needs to click Save button. As it is not intuitive and effective so it should be the same UX as iPad's markup (Apple's standard annotation)

Ability for another user to "resolve" and / or reply to a comment or annotation
As a document owner, I want to be able to resolve comments / annotations made by other users. It would also be useful to be able to reply (in a thread) to a comment (e.g., to get clarification.)

Responding to question on the comments section
it would be good to respond to questions asked in the comments section. Or like, thumbs up etc. Currently you have to start a new comment to respond to a question and it doesn't flow.

Color coded flags at the folder level to alert personal to them; + comments
Ability to see at a glance that work is required within a folder without having to drill down to the file level

Annotate video preview
Being able to annotate the video preview screen is very useful for video industries.

Ability to Enable/Disable Annotations
We would like to request for a feature to be able to enable/disable Annotations.
Annotations is very convenient, but sometimes it could make users confusing, if they do not know how to use it.
Therefore, we would be grateful if there is a feature to be able to disable Annotations, and then enabling afterwards.9 votes -
I want to be able to make annotations permanent in PDFs and other documents.
Good morning. I am new to Box. I would like to be able to make permanent annotations to documents (such as a PDF) and then be able to share that annotated document without having to do the annotations in another app and then re-upload them into Box. It seems like a waste of time when I am trying to streamline the process of document review. I think that many people would appreciate the ability to do this. Thank you for your consideration! Keep safe. Have a great week.

Possibility to share with non-Box users annotated files including the annotations.
Annotating files, especially pdfs, inside Box would be much more useful to me if I could share the annotated file, including the annotations, with non-Box users. A setting on the shared link dialog like "Allow persons with the link to view annotations" would be a great enhancement.
Thanks

copy and paste
I've switched over from Dropbox where I was able to copy a comment placed on a file via the app
Please include that feature (3 dots in the right corner of every comment) in the app to be able to copy the text to paste elsewhere

Use of iPad’s Markup for annotating. Box’s implementation of annotations is poor.
iPads have a built in document markup function for annotating documents, it’s tragic that Box doesn’t permit this tool to function.
My current work around is to copy the file to my iPad then use Markup to annotate my document, then finally copy the annotated document back into Bix.

Printing Annotations Attached to Box Notes
Currently annotations do not appear when a BOX Note is printed. It would be helpful if the option to print the the annotations was given as a setting.

Allow answering annotations
Answer to someone who makes a suggestion in a comment. This is the way it's like on google drive !

Ability to turn off comment function
There is no way to turn off the Comment feature as a default setting. When using a touchscreen laptop, every touch designed to navigate triggers the comment function. This requires manually turning off the Comment function on every single document when using the touchscreen, functionally eliminating using the touchscreen as a viable UI. PLEASE either allow the Comment function to be turned off, or default to Flagging when a laptop touchscreen is detected.

Retain annotations in subsequent version(s) of a document
We use annotations when a group of us is proofing and suggesting edits to a document. When we're finished, when the designer makes our edits to the document, and then uploads a new version. Unfortunately, once the new version is uploaded, unlike general comments, the annotations are gone so we can't check in our changes. It would be great if you could make it possible to view annotations from the previous version of a document. Right now, the only workaround is to avoid using annotations, or to open the previous version of the document in a separate browser window and…
