Currently, texts in Metadata can only be searched by exact match especially for Japanese characters. We would like to see an improvement to make it "contains" search as it is available in the standard search.79 votes
We use both comments and annotations without distinction.
We feel uncomfortable that comments are searchable, but annotations are not.
Although both are displayed in the same comment field, it is inconvenient that annotations cannot be searched, so we would like to improve the function so that annotations can also be searched.
When we search content, we can only set a certain folder to search (with a tick box) as a condition.
However, we would like to select multiple folders in the Content Filter to have more specific results in order to refer file a in folder A and file b in folder B.3 votes
We are currently confined to a small box with scroll bars when using Metadata search. Please improve the UI design so we can see all the fields without having to scroll (pop-out, iFrame, etc.)1 vote
Be able to set a particular File Type such as "Folders" be the default file type in search rather than "Any Type." Would like to be able to select a file type as default.1 vote
We use history as a way to find files that we have seen in the past.
However, the history does not have a search function, and only 50 files can be displayed per screen.
Moreover, it is very inconvenient to go back and check the history because you have to click the next page many times.
Please make history searchable.
When I search for an exact file name, to find all copies of that file within a folder structure, the "See All Results" page does not put all the "hits" of that exact file name at the top of the list. I have to scroll down through many other files with partial hits in the name to find all copies. Why would it not sort by exact file names first, then partial file name matches, then contents ... ?3 votes
Build native Box Search to also search the end of a text string, not only the beginning of a text string
Build native Box Search to also search the end of a text string, not only the beginning of a text string.
Specifically, my customer wants to search for a folder, ABCD1234, where searching for "ABCD" populates all folders with "ABCD" as the fore end of the nomenclature, but when searching for the tail end of the nomenclature (aka the unique, identifying text string), "1234," the specific full ABCD1234 folder is not populating in search results.2 votes
When I search in BOX folder which has many files using "ctlr+f" option, It doesn't search entire folder.
For Example: There are 10 files available in the folder which contains the name "OCA"(file name contains "OCA") And when I search I get only 6 results and when I scroll down and search I get remaining 4 results.
Can you please improve it to search the whole folder even if the file is present at the bottom of scrollable area?6 votes
The file types that are under the "Presentation" filter are 'ppt', 'pptx', 'key', 'odp', 'otp', 'pot', 'fodp', 'keynote', and 'pez'.
'.glides' should be included, as .'gdoc' is included in "Documents" and '.gsheet' is included in "Spreadsheets".1 vote
We are aware that a single search for a symbol, including ".", cannot be used with Box's search function.
Searching only for symbols will expand the search range and improve the convenience of file searches, so we would like to see this feature implemented.
Adding recent folders into the "Recents" carousel would be a huge value add in working through current projects.3 votes
My hope is to search for "other than ●●" and "NOT ●●"
My preferred search method is, for example, There are 3 files. The file names are A, B, C.
I want to enter "not B" in the search. The result is A and C files.
It is usually called "Not search". (in Japan)4 votes
The display name displayed in the suggestion when performing a search when specifying a group or user in the user activity report is cut off.
Users and groups cannot be specified correctly, such as when similar names are set and they are distinguished by the end of the name.
We want you to improve so that you can check all users and group names in the suggestion display when searching
Box should support modern search capabilities such as elastic search
We want to be able to search for something within the name if a file

We would like to be able to lock the sorting settings of files in folders? If we sort the folders based on A-Z the files inside the folders swap to Z-A. We would want them to be fully independent from each other.13 votes
The ability to search contextually for a topic and have related results be populated similar to an internet search engine e.g. you search for "Fruit" and search results include "apples, oranges, bananas etc."2 votes
Box's search queries do not go off of the same date displayed to end users in the WebApp. The Modified Date seen in the WebApp is different than the API field “modified_at” that the search tool goes off of. From a user’s viewpoint, the date is the date, so using two separate date fields for the same product is confusing to end users. This is a request to ensure both of these fields align.2 votes
As legal department, we manage contract documents using tag but when we search files filtering with them, user experience is not intuitive when I follow steps described below.
- search a keyword filtering with tag
- change the keyword on search box
- filter for tag set in 1 is reset and disappeared
Also, we would like to search file filtering with tag without any keywords in the search box as populating keyword is currently a must to start to search unlike Metadata, which is also inconvenient.17 votes
