  1. Need Permission level between Viewer/Uploader and Editor

Viewer/Uploader is good, but, not good enough for all use cases; and Editor is too much--especially for external collaborators.

External collaborators need to be able to fix problems they accidentally create (e.g. uploading the wrong file) or wanting to change the name of a folder when they realize that the current name may be confusing (who hasn't done that?).

I agree with others' comments that there needs to be a permissions level between Viewer/Uploader and Editor. I can see at least four possible solutions:

    1) Allow collaborators to rename a folder/file. This could help with the accidental upload as well…

  2. Edit User Access permissions - View Options Needed

It would be great to see the following enhancements made to the Edit User Access permissions section of the User page; specifically the 'Select folders this user can access' section:
    1) Allow for columns to be Expanded to see the entire folder name
    2) Include a sort option to these columns in order to sort by folder name, owner, file size, or Access level.

  3. Stop or modify instant suspension of new user email addresses on account setup, or give admins access to your blocklist

When a new user account is set up, a confirmation email is automatically sent to the login address for the account. Currently, if this message is bounced, the user's email address is immediately placed on your block list.

So - I create a new staff email account in 365, then use that email address to set up a Box account. Box immediately sends a confirmation email message - but 365 is having a slow day and the gateway hasn't yet caught up with accepting messages for that address. The confirmation message is bounced, and the user's email address is immediately…

  4. Tenant Admin and Co-Admin can check group members from the collaborator list

If the group permission setting is set to "Admins only", only the user who is the gouroup admin can display the members of the group from the collaborator list of the invited folder.

Tenant admin and co-admin cannot be set as group admin.
Even if you are a member of a group or have been invited to the same folder, you will not be able to see the members of the group without navigating to the admin console.

We request functional improvements so that tenant admin and co-admin can easily check from the collaborator list.

  5. Change or delete ”People in your company” in link settings.

In our company, not only the headquarters, but also the operating companies use Box in the same Box tenant.
Therefore, the domains of all companies, including operating companies, are registered in Box as domains to be managed.
However, even though we are an operating company, there is a lot of information that we do not want other group companies to see.

The average user misunderstands the "People in your company" permission in the shared link as referring to their own company.
However, in reality, if we select "People in your company," users from other companies will be able to view…

  6. Tag permission levels

There should be a way to customize permission level based on the tag on a case. For example, within a folder the tag "confidential" should lower the the permission level to not allow the person to download or view the item.

  7. Recommend a new permission level that is the same access as "Viewer" but the "Viewer" to share at the same level

The sharing level of "Viewer" is beneficial to share approved documents through Duke Box. In our capacity the information in the approved document that is shared with the owner as "Viewer" should also be accessible to other individuals that the owner deems appropriate so these individuals know exactly want is approved, what is expected of them, and how to remain compliant. Because we issue the approval and maintain the final document and do not manage the owners group that needs access to the approved document, it would be very beneficial if, after the document owner gets "Viewer" permission to the…

  8. external share

Need the ability to provide some users/groups to create external shares for a longer or indefinite period of time. If we have a long range project I have to disable to option to control how long a share stays out there - that in my opinion is a security risk.

  9. Allow group administrators of SSO-enabled tenants to change the email addresses of group members

According to the information provided by following link,
group administrators are authorised to change the email addresses of managed users.

    *
    Link:
    https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043692374

    Manage group member accounts:
Edit non-admin user accounts in the Managed Users tab, including user name, email, storage, and settings.
    *
In the case of tenants using SSO,
only the administrator and co-administrator can change a managed user's email address.

In this case, the group administrator cannot change the email address of the group member.

However, in a tenant with a very large number of users,
it is very difficult for the administrator/co-administrator to complete all the…

  10. Allow Shared folders to be owned by Domain ( vs user)

Similar to Google's Shared Drives, allowing admins to set ownership of a shared drive at the domain level vs user (human or service) would minimize the need for Service Accounts or changing ownership as users leave the company.

  11. Count previewing large Video files as "preview" in User Statistics Report

Count previewing large Video files as "preview" in User Statistics Report.

Sometimes previewing large Video files is not counted as "preview" in User Statistics Report.

    It should be counted.

  13. Additional columns in User activity report

User activity report provide events of "Approved Task" and "Rejected task"

Currently, User activity report provide just following events:
    Assigned a task
    Updated a task assignment
    Created a task

Therefore, administrator cannot detect events of "Approved Task" and "Rejected task" These information should be provided in the report to know when the task was approved or rejected.

  14. Distinguish FTP and FTPS in User Activity Report

would like a way to distinguish the difference between FTP and FTPS traffic.
The “details” column in the user activity report only shows the connection to “Box FTP Server”,
but it doesn’t specify which protocol or port was used.

  15. Extend expiration dates to be shown in their user activity reports

For external collaborations, it shows the date the collaboration is going to end when it's first set in the user activity to report as
    -Action: Collaboration expiration
    -Details: To: YYYY-MM-DD

However when you extend this period, the "To: YYYY-MM-DD" isn't displayed so you don't know until when it's extended until unless you go the individual folder/file itself and look at the "clock" mark manually.
    In the report
    -Action: Extend collaborator expiration
    -Details: [Blank]

The customer wants to have a grasp of each expiration dates so they're saying looking at each item manually on Box is impractical.
    They would like the…

  17. Keep Cost Center Field populated when user invited as a Managed user

If creating an account and you have to send the user an Invite to come over as a managed user, the Cost Center field (If filled out) will not stay after the user accepts the invite. Forcing you to have to go back and re-add info you may have already included.

I would request that if the Cost Center field is populated on a user creation, that it remain after an invited user accepts their invite to stop double work.

  19. add the dependencies of a shared folder/file to a group

When U share a file/folder with a group in the group sharing management into the admin console, You don't watch the dependencies and that may become a problem when you share a folder which is named as an existing one.
    To better undertand the situation:
Imagine U have a template for a project. Every time You create a new project, You going to use the same template with the same structure. So, every time U share a folder with a group for a new project (i.e PURCHASE), U will watch a list of PURCHASE folders but no information from which…

  20. When a reset password link is requested, check your internal block list and remove the email address if necessary.

Often we deal with users email addresses getting placed on Box's internal block list. Then a user might request a new password, but the email will never come in. In that scenario, if a user has requested a password reset email, you should check your block list for that user's email address and remove it if necessary.
