  1. Increase the 10,000 Limit for Groups

Currently if you create more than 10,000 groups, the groups at the bottom of the list alphabetically cannot be searched for when creating a collaboration.

  2. Collaborator Clean Up

Collaborator Clean Up - In Account Settings / Collaborators, we want to add the ability to click on any collaborator and see what files and folders they have access to. When looking at the list, have a button available to remove them from specific folders as needed. This will be especially helpful when performing a CBN, Audit or Digital Clean up.

  3. Allow users to see who the file owner is

If a user does not have access to a file, Box politely reports: "This shared file or folder link has been removed or is unavailable to you." That's fair! How does one know whom to contact regarding access? Would it be feasible and acceptable to let us know who the owner is? A link to "E-mail Owner" or "Request Access?"

  4. Stop disabling access to content when its owner account is deactivated.

If content owner's account is disabled, any collaborators lose access to said content. A different workflow needs to be put into place to allow these collaborators access to content previously shared with them.

Either automatically transfer ownership to a co-owner or when the original owner account is being suspended, add options for preserving access to other collaborators.

  5. Ability to have guest accounts

We'd like to have guest Box account for external vendors. Vendors are not allowed to create free Box accounts by their policy. In order to collaborate with external vendors, we'd like to have guest Box account for our vendors.

  6. Not all user settings can be controlled via our APIs.

Some user settings are missing from our APIs
eg: acknowledge collab invite, user avatar, mail notifications etc

  7. Enable account upgrades without needing to have 3 members

I currently have a Personal Pro account, and I'd like to upgrade to get more storage. It seems, however, that all upgrade options involve at least 3 users. I am but one. As much as I'd like to clone myself sometimes, it's just not practical (or, frankly, ethical...but that's another story).

Can we make a way to upgrade a 1-person account without having to pay for two unnecessary users?

If not, you're essentially throwing up a middle finger to solo practitioners, which isn't very nice.

  8. Group - Allow the deletion of a list of user

Group Management - Allow the deletion of a list of user.
And do not search user one by one in the group, then click one by one on Remove button and then save ...
When you have hundred users to remove in a group with thousand users, it is boring and time consuming...
To add a group we can add several users at the same time, it is better !

  9. Eliminate confirmation email for manually created or provisioned accounts

We feel that the confirmation email step should not be utilized with accounts that are manually created in the portal or that are auto provisioned from AD. When we create a new account, there is a "delay" with the new email address being propagated and established in our third-party cloud-based email security system. This causes the new email to be added to the hard bounce list at Box due to the email address not being valid (yet). We understand the need for a confirmation email when it comes to an individual user signing up, but if an account is created…

  11. Metadata visibility in user activity report

when we make changes to "fill in the blank" metadata fields, we would like to be able to see the 'before and after' what was entered within a user activity report or other type of report.

  12. Control managed user external collaboration to webmail accounts

Setting that allows admin of corporate instance to control/limit managed users being collaborated into personal Box webmail accounts. This would be a setting to control/limit an outside Box webmail user collaborating a corporate managed user into its personal account.

  13. Co-admin should be able to login to other co-admin accounts and service accounts

Box co-admin should have the ability to log into other co-admin accounts and application services accounts to manage content. Today, you rely on using Box APIs or the primary Box admin account. It would be more convenient for coadmins to use the Box webapp instead.

  14. Count SSO Authentication as login in User Report

SSO Authentication is not counted as "Login" in User Statistics report. SSO Authentication is also "Login" activity. It should be counted.

  15. Ability to reject group collaboration by individuals.

The user may be invited as a group to a folder that is of little relevance to him.

If we are invited to a folder as a group, we cannot remove the collaboration as only an individual. If we invite a group, but individuals within the group do not need to collaborate, please add a setting that allows us to de-collaborate (reject) only the relevant users.

  16. Content manager and folder picker for user activity report

Ability for group admin/Business admin to use Contents Manager (and folder picker for user activity report).
Currently, the group admin or admin of Business license cannot choose folder from picker on user activity report because they don't have the permission to view users' contents (or Contents Manager).

  17. Ability to search by "co-owner" or "editor", I see we can "sort by owners" but that doesn't do any good for users.

We have detailers come in all the time we would like to be able to sort at the "All Folder" zone by "co-owner" or "editor" to ensure detailer gets put in all applicable folders. I see sort by "owner" but no one is that high in the group. the highest we're at is "co-owner" . the sorting feature would allow us to find, add and remove person(s) from folder(s) without having to open every folder and sort through all the users.

  18. Group membership retained when an account is deactivated

We have scenarios where user accounts are suspended for a period of time e.g while a person is on extended leave. The business process is to disable the account in Active Directory which in turn deactivates the account in our SSO provider which also sets the account as Inactive in Box.

When the account is reactivated the person retains access to all the folders they were collaborating in but they lose membership to all Box groups and need to be re-added

We've also had incidents where accounts have mistakenly been deactivated resulting in the same issue

    Generally we prefer to…

  19. Indicate whether a user is a managed user or app user in Admin event stream

Adding a parameter in the Admin event stream which indicates whether the user that took an action was a managed user or app user would make it more efficient for administrators or analytics tools to separate activity by the different user types. In an active enterprise the volume of events may be very great, and having this additional level of specificity would simplify reporting.

  20. 409

On a 409 Name Conflict exception, the response does not contain the ID of the group in conflict, requiring the use of another API call to get the ID of the group with that name. Typically we recommend trying to find the group first, if the group is likely to have been created, but in the instance it is not, then 2 calls are, once again, necessary.

We have also seen instances where the group name search is not returning a valid result, and the logic can never find, nor create the group, causing a critical failure in the logic.
