Allow users to create a new folder name without changing it for others
This would allow users to create a custom view of their own content. Only way to do something similar is through bookmarks, which are cumbersome and less useful

Yes! It's annoying that renaming and moving folders, in order to tidy up your view of the world, also has to impact other people's view.
Folders have a dual job because they arrange files but also provide the ownership management model. If users could create links (or bookmarks were improved) they could use these to organise their view of the resources on box without affecting the group.
