Box Web
Currently, when previewing a file in Box, navigating to another file often requires leaving the preview or opening a new view, which disrupts the user’s workflow. Introducing an in-browser preview experience similar to Outlook’s email preview would represent a significant usability improvement.
Specifically, this enhancement would allow users to:
Open a file in a preview pane within the same browser window.
Seamlessly navigate between files (e.g., next / previous) without closing the preview.
Preserve folder context and file list visibility while reviewing content.
Avoid losing navigation state or opening additional windows or tabs.
Beyond general document review, this functionality would be particularly valuable for email archiving use cases. At present, the lack of smooth navigation when previewing files in Box creates enough friction that many users prefer to remain in Outlook when reviewing and archiving emails and attachments.
A preview-and-navigation model comparable to Outlook’s would make Box a far more viable destination for email archiving, enabling users to review multiple emails or attachments efficiently without breaking their flow. This would encourage greater adoption of Box as a centralized repository, reduce dependency on Outlook for document review, and improve overall productivity.
