  2. Support more preview formats when it comes to professional photos

The list of new RAW photo formats supported by Box in preview hasn't been updated for a while.
In our case, we have a lot of assets in the .ARW and .CR3 formats which can't be previewed in Box and Box Hubs.
We recommend Box to work on supporting more photo and video formats, staying up to date with professional raw files.

  3. Request to fix the markdown preview display when using Firefox

When you log into Box and use the preview feature to display markdown, the screen differs between Edge and Firefox.
When displaying bullet points, Firefox does not display correctly as shown in the attached image.
I think the reason is that Firefox's bullet is larger than other browsers (indent size is insufficient).
Please improve the markdown preview display when using Firefox to match Edge.

  4. How to overwrite and save a file after changing its orientation

The recently released preview screen feature that lets you rotate documents is really helpful, as it allows us to view scanned data in the correct orientation.

I understand that the original data is not affected, but there is a need to overwrite and save files in their corrected orientation.

It would be even more convenient if there were a way to simply save the file as-is after changing its orientation.

  5. I want a feature that hides the toolbar displayed at the bottom of the PDF or image preview screen

When you move the mouse pointer off-screen, the toolbar disappears, but it can sometimes get in the way when explaining materials with the pointer, which is inconvenient. I would like a feature to hide the toolbar or move it.

  6. Custom Poster Frame for Video Thumbnails

When a video is uploaded to Box the preview thumbnail is automatically pulled from a frame 10% into the video. For media and entertainment clients this can be a challenge because that frame is often an unflattering still of a talent mid-speech or in an awkward pose. That's the first thing clients see when they log in to review a file.

Platforms like YouTube and Vimeo have a great implementation of this where you can pick a specific frame or upload a custom image as the thumbnail. It would be wonderful to see something similar in Box.

    On the technical…

  7. Forward and Backward Arrows

I don't think its an Idea, but to move through files the > arrow buttons seem to be backwards. The Left < is to move Foward and the Right > is to move backwards. When I think it should be the other way around for those of us who are use to < to be backwards and > to be forward.

  8. Box Web

Currently, when previewing a file in Box, navigating to another file often requires leaving the preview or opening a new view, which disrupts the user’s workflow. Introducing an in-browser preview experience similar to Outlook’s email preview would represent a significant usability improvement.

Specifically, this enhancement would allow users to:

Open a file in a preview pane within the same browser window.

Seamlessly navigate between files (e.g., next / previous) without closing the preview.

Preserve folder context and file list visibility while reviewing content.

Avoid losing navigation state or opening additional windows or tabs.

Beyond general document review, this functionality would…

  9. Request for improvement of the event where the cell date is different when previewing an Excel file

In Excel, if you enter a date in a cell with a custom format, a different date will be displayed when viewed with previewer permissions.
For example, if you enter "2026/1/1", if you check it with the previewer permission, it will be displayed as "2026/10/12".
    This event is described below.

Introducing Box Preview – Box Support
    https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044195013-Introducing-Box-Preview

“Date values with the custom format "yyyy/m/d (aaa)" may show incorrect dates. This is due to a bug in the library that Box Content Preview has a dependency on. The workaround is to use a different format such as "yyyy/m/d (ddd)" or "yyyy/m/d".”

  11. Box Preview - Support native preview of .XLSB format

For regulatory requirements, users are required to have the 'Previewer' access level on certain content to avoid Download permissions.

However, this means the user is unable to use Excel Online Previewer (due to this requiring 'Download' permission), nor open the file in another editor.

Unlike the .XLSX or .XLSM formats, .XLSB files do not generate a PDF conversion, which makes these files fully inaccessible to Previewers.

The request is for .XLSB files to be supported in Box's native Content Preview.

  12. Full file view and file rotation ability in Box preview

Users have reported that having the option to view the entire file in Box preview would be and be able to rotate the document within Box preview would be helpful to their user experience. Currently, users need to download the file or use Box edit for these features.

  13. Direct transition from preview screen to server link embedded in file

When previewing PDF and Word files, it is not possible to navigate to server links embedded in the files.
If you want to navigate to server links, you need to download the files from Box and click the links, which is time-consuming.
There is an impression that the preview screen is inconvenient, and this damages Box's reputation, so please enable navigation to links from the preview screen.

    サーバへのリンクに遷移したい場合は、Boxからファイルをダウンロードしてリンクをクリックすることが必要で、手間がかかります。

  14. Enhanced video player and shortcuts

In general, it would be great if Box could make improvements to its video player. We find that the video player is lower quality than other software that our team uses, and team members frequently reach out with concerns that the video quality is low given the resolution issues with Box's video player. Our team would like to be able to have a frame-by-frame preview in Box and quickly navigate between frames using shortcut keys.

  15. Set the sidebar to be closed by default. The sidebar, document Preview, blocks to much of the screen and cannot be closed in embeds.

Within Document Preview, set the righthand sidebar to be closed by default. Within our Box embed the righthand sidebar covers way too much screen space, limiting the viewing of the document. The sidebar can NOT be closed in our small embed, due to the inability to view the minimize or close button. We need to have a way to close or minimize the sidebar when previewing a document in our small embed.

  16. Display TIFF Files without strict metadata validation

TIFF generated across different business, internal and external streams are not consistent with the meta data validation. Some times, the file metadata claims the embedded JPEG uses 1x1 sampling (no subsampling, full resolution), but the actual JPEG data uses 2x1 horizontal chroma subsampling.

In these cases strict validations causes failures to preview the TIFF images, converting millions of such images to PDFs is not scalable effort.

BOX to provide a feature to ignore strict validation of the meta data.

  17. Export of / access to preview image file

I like to create image content descriptions (long text, captions, tags) using computer vision AI models and store the descriptions in Box metadata. Therefore i need to provide the image to an external service. The problem is, that the AI services available through e.g. Box Skills or most other 3rd party tools have a size limit of 20 MB per image. Most images i'm dealing with are much bigger. One option would be to convert these images prior to providing them to an external tool, but Box already has a smaller image which could be used for computer vision purposes…

  18. Preference for preview screen panels

There is no preference in Box for what appears first when you go to the file preview screen. It used to go to Comments and Tasks, but now forces you directly to the Box AI panel and this cannot be changed. Please bring in a preference panel that lets you set the default preview panel behavior.

  19. Batch preview of multiple files

When a large number of documents are sent from other users, it is currently necessary to open each document one by one.
When a large number of files are opened at the same time, it takes time to open them, which is inefficient.
We would like to have the ability to “preview” selected documents at once.

    タイトル:複数ファイルの一括プレビュー

    他のユーザーから大量の文書が送られてきた場合、現状では1つ1つの文書を開く必要がある。
    多数のファイルを同時に開くと、開くのに時間がかかり、効率が悪い。

  20. Spellcheck Suggestions for Comments while previewing a document

The benefit is that when we need to add extensive comments, we could be sure that spelling is correct and prevent confusion and additional back & forth. The spellcheck suggestion can just be a simple underline text that indicates spelling errors.

As a workaround, I can make the comments in another text software, but that slows down productivity if I have to constantly switch between applications.

Please add spellcheck capability for comments!
