Include annotations when downloading a file
Currently, if there are annotations on a file, these are not downloaded when the file is downloaded from Box.

This feature is almost a mandatory requirement in this day and age. We collaborate internally all the time in Box, and the tools are fantastic. However, for services agreements, MOUs, etc. that we need to share with external entities, we really need the comments to at least be exportable. Being able to include them in the file would be so powerful.

I'm shocked that this is not the standard. I just spent a solid 5 hours marking up a pdf and was ready to send it when I realized the downloaded version did not include any of my comments! Obviously Box wants me to share the link instead of the pdf since that brings additional users to the site (which I'm now forced to do on this one time basis), but it looks unprofessional and I can't really use this platform for my day to day.

Being able to include annotations in a downloaded file is an assumption that I (apparently erroneously) made was a given when using a document sharing system like Box. After using SharePoint for 3 years, I never imagined that this WASN'T something that Box did- I would have thought it was a core function. I'm now apparently spending my Saturday consolidating my team's comments on a document that we should have edited via e-mail, and then I will go to work and advocate moving to SharePoint as quickly as possible. Looking at the fact that this thread is TWO YEARS OLD, I'm guessing that Box has no intention of actually addressing this issue. This was my first customer experience using Box. So far, no good.

Agreed - we have to work with client systems outside of box and having the ability to export a version of the file that includes all the annotations made within box would be really helpful. Suggest this would work best if you could choose to download the file as normal without annotations (perhaps the default?) but have an extra option to export a version of the file that includes the annotations (e.g. as a PDF).

My department reviews a lot of documents and we add comments on the documents for the items that need to be revised. Once we've made our comments we share the documents with the external collaborators so they can make the necessary changes. Box Annotations are extremely helpful in making these comments directly on the document, but the problem is that most of the external collaborators have a designated admin person in their office who is in charge of their Box account and downloads the documents. When the admin person downloads the documents our annotations do not show up. It would be EXTREMELY helpful if the admin Box person could download the document and have the annotations be visible on the downloaded document. Without this capability we are making comments in other programs (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc) and then having to upload those files into Box rather than just being able to do all of it directly in Box.
