Ability to lock down folders to prevent accidental moving of files or deletion
Because of the downstream impacts, we will not be solving this problem as requested. We will be looking at a more holistic approach to prevent unintended consequences of file operations.

It would be very beneficial to lock certain main folders down from accidental being deleted or moved but still allow users to delete and move content within those folders.

This issue is a big headache for us. I also see the comments below all described the issue going back to 2021 and no response from Box yet. Can Box provide a temporary solution - at least? Thought please!! Thanks,

Why is it so easy for users to move folders inadvertently using Box Web? Happens all the time with our users and causes a lot of troubles. At least add a prompt that says, "Are you sure you want to do this?" if this action takes place. Please help soon!!

It would be also useful to prevent users adding files after a particular close off date, ie after a meeting.

We have had multiple instances where a top level folder was moved or deleted and the restore time caused a major issue for our company. One time it was the HR folder, so panic incited until we had everything restored. We should be able to make a top level folder only editable by admins, but leave subfolder permissions up to end users.

We have folders that are accidently moved; we need a feature to lock the location of a folder, but NOT the content within the folder.

This is a continuing problem for us, as people accidentally move folders without getting any warning. Note that this request should be merged with this one:

We're having trouble with huge folders being moved to the wrong location by accident. When the folder is moved to incorrect position and bringing it back to the correct location can take days, disrupting the Valuation process. We're looking for any information or improvements Box can make to restrict the movement of huge folders. Is it possible to restrict folder movement or can we introduce restrictions on folder movement?

As the Organisation administrator I am constantly getting requests to find folders that have been moved accidentally.

Is there a way of stopping or locking a folder to move folders into other folders, as they can be moved on accident

It would be nice to be able to Lock a File or Folder and require a password to delete the file and or folder. This would be helpful to not accidentally delete a file or folder. Deleting is to easy currently.
