use @mention in the Office suites of software (Words, Excel, PowerPoint)
Currently, we are able to do commenting of the document in Box by using the @mention. But we are not able to do the same when we are editing document in the native Ms Office software eg Words, Excel & PowerPoint. The @mention does not work.
Would like to have the same feature when we are working in the native document?

Basic functionality for comments that works in Google docs hosted in Box - why not for Office apps? Collaboration on docs significantly degraded without this basic feature

Users really need this.

Would be very useful, rather than just using the Box feature which doesn't allow for comments tied to a specific section of an excel file

Thank you, we are exploring this feature as a possibility for our future roadmap

This is a critical feature. Users must be able to @mention others from within the Office app in Box. Commenting and mentioning in Preview mode is insufficient and significantly degrades the collaboration experience.

We also need this implemented ASAP, this significantly impacts our collaboration performance in Box. @mention inside to MS Office documents is a must.

+1 to this. Comments in Box aren't as effective or useful as being able to mention in the respective Office app

How is this not a thing already? Comments are useless without @ mentions

Users used to SharePoint find this necessary to @ a team member to get their attention within the slides/presentation or Word document. This is extremely helpful for teams to quickly highlight text and comment with @. Please bring this feature while collaborating with MS office applications within Box asap! users are switching back to SharePoint to get this functionality for presentation and documents.
