In particular, we would like administrators to be able to hide external collaboration folders and externally owned folders from Box Drive while maintaining access through the Box Web App.

From our experience supporting enterprise customers, the primary concerns are:

Accidental filing of files into external collaboration folders through drag-and-drop operations in File Explorer/Finder.
Increased risk of unintended data sharing due to the visibility of external folders within Box Drive's folder tree and quick access experience.
Difficulty distinguishing internal and external destinations when users perform daily file operations.
Governance and compliance requirements that demand tighter control over access paths, not only access permissions.

Although Box Shield can help mitigate some risks, it does not fundamentally address the issue of exposure through the desktop access path. The root cause is that external collaboration folders are presented alongside internal content within Box Drive.

We believe administrators should be able to:

Hide external collaboration folders from Box Drive.
Apply the setting at Enterprise, Group, or User scope.
Enforce the setting centrally through the Admin Console.
Allow users to continue accessing those folders through the Box Web App when business needs require it.

This functionality would significantly reduce the risk of misfiling, accidental sharing, and operational mistakes while preserving collaboration capabilities.
