  1. extract a list of documents/location for the content structure

it would be great to be able to extract a list of documents/location for the content structure to support migration, organization and due diligence!

  2. Allow Admin Deployment of Box Drive for Upgrades over Network

We use a deployment software and are able to use it successfully for all upgrades except Box Drive. This is due to the fact that there is a prompt for confirmation that the upgrade will cause loss connection and in a ticket was told there was no way to force it to continue.

What I'd like to see is a way for either through a deployment software, GPO, or PowerShell, be able to force upgrades at start-up. This would ensure that users are not yet accessing files that could be messed up.

  3. Direct "Save As" when saving from Box Edit to a navigable area on local machine.

Currently if you hit Save As on the default Box Edit location, it will save the version of the file to the cache and this causes version/maintenance issues with a document.

  5. If a user locks the file, it should be only unlockable by that user and an administrator, not other Editors

Other users unlocking defeats the purpose of locking in the first place.

  6. Enhance Box Edit to be compatible with Proxy authentication

Currently Box Edit traffic is not compatible with Proxies where they require Authentication (eg: Basic auth)

  8. Automatically Lock & Unlock when editing from Web App using Box Edit

CURRENT UX: User must remember to manually lock and unlock each file once done editing, which is a subpar experience for the user.

DESIRED UX: When using 'open with' via the webapp (Box Edit), the file is auto-locked (via a prompt), and when the user closes out of the file, it is automatically unlocked.

We understand the request, but unfortunately this is not on the near-term roadmap. We are currently prioritizing automatically locking/unlocking files on Box Drive for Office files on Windows. We will revisit this feature in the future.

  9. Error Messaging - Update 'File Type Not Supported' Error Message to Be More Specific When the Error is Not Related to File Types

This is a request to update error messages for Box Edit to be more specific.

Currently, the red bar that says 'Box Edit does not support this file type' appears for a variety of reasons not limited to just errors due to file type incompatibility. Users could see that error message when trying to use Box Edit with a PowerPoint, Word, or any other supported file type.

This error also occurs when the Web App is having issues connecting to Box Edit on the actual computer and in other scenarios that are entirely unrelated to file types.

    For this reason,…

  11. docusign

If we have a large signing process going through DocuSIgn, we could have 100 documents that need to go to clients over a short period of time. In DocuSign, we regularly use the Save and Close option to prepare a document, rather than send it. Once we have all the docs preparared with signature blocks etc, we go into each draft and hit Send.

It would be good if Box could track the Draft in DocuSign, and allow you to go back into the document in Box and send from there. The only workaround is to login to DocuSign to…

  12. Is there a way to make comments on MBox folders private/directed toward specific individuals in an MBox group without seen by others?

I am part of a team that uses MBox to securely upload and view videos of infants who are identified at risk of adverse neurodevelopmental conditions to conduct a standardized assessment on each infant. Typically, when team members upload videos of their patients, we have to send multiple emails in order to a) notify the team that a new video has been uploaded and b) respond to the individual who uploaded the video to offer feedback/scoring. Is there a way to make the MBox comments privatized in order to reduce a bias effect on scoring the videos (and minimize the…

  13. Create per-machine version of Box Edit

The user is trying to use Box Edit on a Mac shared between two users. If they use the Switch User option, the second user's file will open under the first user's profile/login session. The second user doesn't see anything.

  14. Add ability distinguish between the three different types of Box Edit installations from program name

Some deployment tools (Dell Kace) only track the program name and publisher.

Companies using these tools are unable to determine what version of Box Edit (per-user, single-user machine-wide, or multi-user machine-wide) is installed which makes it difficult to remediate the situation.
