Ability to track metadata template history
I would like to have ablity to track history for metadata templates in user activity report or security report to know who has created/edited/deleted templates, and what has been changed at what timestamp.

Metadata: enable functionality where users must provide a reason (e.g. a comment) for changing a metadata value on highly protected content.
Possibly, we offer the option to configure Box Shield Classification Tags for this. E.g. The tag could say "metadata changes require justification."

Show file/metadata info from Photoshop image files
Photographers submit their images to our Box account for use in our publications. The industry standard is for professional photographers to add metadata like the photo credit and caption to each photo using the "File Info" tool in Photoshop. Unfortunately, after doing so and then uploading the images to Box, the metadata added in Photoshop is not visible in Box's metadata section. Please consider exposing this info under "details" or "metadata."
Extra credit: Allow us to edit that same metadata in Box. Doing so would allow the correct credit and caption info to flow into our InDesign layouts. Saving lots…
20 votesWhile we recognize the importance of this feature, it is not something we plan to introduce in the near term. We will certainly keep this in mind for future roadmap inclusion and we will keep the status of this request updated to accurately reflect our current position.

Have the Box Metadata Live with the file in in the XMP packet
Upon EXport of a file from Box all "Box" metadata should be appended to the XMP packet of Valid Formats under a Box Schema. For example, any image format should move with the associated metadata from one system to another if you have to export from box to a 3rd party dam you don't want to have to export all the metadata with it as a separate file - appending to the XMP would be very useful

We need to have AND support in Metadata multi-select fields
There needs to be an option, in searching for Metadata attributes which are multi-select, to choose AND or OR relationships between the chosen attributes.

Export input metadata from file upload forms
It would be nice to be able to export a CSV of input metadata during a file upload request.
For example, if I create a metadata template and add those attributes as fields to my file upload form and the uploader inputs their name, email, and other requested details into those fields, I'd like to be able to export the data to a CSV for the folder they uploaded their files to and see columns for each field on the form (including attributes from the metadata template). It would be nice if the export could contain fields on the form…

Visual colour reference on files as a label
We currently use another cloud based system for image approval with a creative team. We are currently looking at moving this service over to box. Currently to approve reject images the team use labels. As a creative team they love labels as they are visual. A basic dropdown you can select against the image or multiple images that are colour coded without having to go in any sub menus to apply. Is there any plan to add a label function in box. Or is there one already that I’ve missed. I understand you can use tags/Meta data to do this…

Limit the use of specific metadata templates to specific folders and specific user-owned content.
When using metadata, it is important to gain the benefits of adding and managing metadata templates, but at present, anyone with authority can use any metadata template.
You can manage your content more sophisticatedly by limiting the use of specific metadata templates to specific folders.12 votes -

All timestamp info associated with a file (such as that shown under File Information and Access Stats) should display the applicable time zone.

Warning Message When Using the Overwrite Cascading Policy
A warning message pops up When cascading template values to documents/folders, if the overwrite is going to affect several documents/folders. For example, are you sure you want to overwrite the values in *** of documents.

virus metadata
With the virus scan metadata template that is available on an account with shield and virus scan on, I would like to see this metadata applied and visible on all files in my organization, not just those that have been detected as containing malicious content.
It looks like the template was designed for wide spread application since its "scan status" fields contain results such as clean, suspicious,unscanned and unknown along with the malicious result.
In this way we could have better understanding of how the box antivirus saw a file and be more wary when the results are such as…

Ability to type metadata date in addition to using the date picker on metadata templates
Selecting dates far in the future or past is tedious. Selecting the year 1920, for example, requires clicking into the year dropdown menu in 10 year increments (9 clicks!). It would be a lot easier to type in the date desired.

Allow AppUser in developer sandbox to use API to invite groups to folders in production.
User groups belong to the production, and production-ready applications are not supported.

Uploader Name in Metadata / extractable form
Hey there, would love to have the ability to take the uploader name from the metadata, or something similar. Our workflows require files to be renamed for archive with that information, and having it in a metadata form would enable us to fully automate that process, rather than have it semi-automated as it is currently. I want to lock an instance's value of a metadata template
Given that a template has multi-select that has A, B and C as value. Currently, if a user has attached an Instance of a Template to a file, on that Instance, a multi-select field has the value of “B”. If the Template is updated so that multi-select option “B” is changed to “D”, then that change will also affect the value in the Instance (and all other Instances of the Template). Because the value of “B” no longer exists as a valid option on the Template, Box cannot keep that value in the Instance. Similarly, if the option “B” was…
