1. Search for specific file extensions. 2. Replace file extensions within box web
We should be able to type in a specific file extension in the File Type.
Ex. I'm trying to search for all .4tx files that we have, which are old 4sight Fax documents. These files are actually TIFF images, but we need to replace the extension on all of them so we can view them in our current environment, since we don't use that really old application. Box doesn't have a way to search specifically for those extensions so I have to search all file types and end up getting way more non relevant results.If we have a file…

Being able to search through files by the date the file was created (in the metadata)
A feature I've wanted many times now, and would love to see implemented, is to be able to search through my files with the filter of Date Created (regarding the creation date of the file in its metadata), not just the date of when I uploaded the file.

Please implement the search filter of "User who deleted" in the Trash.
Please implement the search filter of "User who deleted" in the Trash.
(This is not same as the filter of "Items I owned" or "Items I deleted".)
Currently we can use owner filtering when searching for content in the Trash.

Provide a way to remove duplicate files throughout a folder and all sub folders
I have a user who copied all the content in multiple folders some how and created duplicate files everywhere in the folder structure. All the duplicate files had a (1) at the end but also had a few files with (email address) at the end as well. Not sure why the (email address) showed up at the end, over the (1).
Never the less, I need a way as an admin or even a user to search for all duplicate files, within a folder/sub folders, and allow me to find all files with *(1) and provide me the list of…

First search with detaled contents filters
Currently the initial search for Box items can be filtered by only three types of contents, then you can squeeze the first search results with more detailed filters, like tags or size etc.
It would be better to be able to use those detailed filters from the beginning.9 votes -
Be able to sort tag search results by name, not just "relevance" and "updated"
When you search for a tag, your only options to sort the results are by "relevance" and "updated". It would be VERY helpful to be able to sort by name on a tag search.

We would like the ability to search by "items I have deleted" in the trash.
When searching for items in the Box recycle bin, the "Search only in recycle bin" function will search for items in the entire recycle bin.
However, if there are a large number of items in the recycle bin, it will take time to search for the needed item.

Search contents of Box notes (or other documents) even when encryption is enabled
I understand that if data is encrypted outside of Box (as is likely the case for any enterprise user), the search functionality for Box is limited to file names only. Can Box add support for search within documents (Box notes at a minimum, but ideally other document types) even in the case where the enterprise user has encryption enabled? Not having this functionality makes search useless for many of our use cases as a large development team.

Support the use of Advanced Search with Metadata by External Users
Since the ability to search for documents was sold to us as a feature and now we discover that it is actually NOT a feature that can be used by external users, I believe we will start the search for a new product to replace Box.

1) Searching in "File and Folder names" only will display results foun in file metadata:

Search - Allow KeySafe Customers to Manage Their Own Search Index
Customers would like the ability to modify the Box search service to point to a customer specific index from within the Box UI since KeySafe disables 10k character capabilities.

Partial match search for email addresses to generate invitation candidates
When inviting a user, when I enter an e-mail address or a kanji name, forward matching results in a list of candidates, but partial matching does not.
I would like to be able to perform a partial match search.[In Japanese]

Improve search UI
Hi Team,
When I search in BOX folder which has many files using "ctlr+f" option, It doesn't search entire folder.
For Example: There are 10 files available in the folder which contains the name "OCA"(file name contains "OCA") And when I search I get only 6 results and when I scroll down and search I get remaining 4 results.
Can you please improve it to search the whole folder even if the file is present at the bottom of scrollable area?7 votes -

Allow "character sequence" searches
If I want to find all instances of "book", I do not want results that include "books" or "bookmark". In other normal searches, I would enter "book " with a space before the closing quote, however this does not work in Box's search.
The link above refers to this as "word sequences", but they don't work in this case. I even opened a ticket with Premier Support, and they said it couldn't be done, and to request the feature here. According to the link above, what I want is a "character sequence" search.

Limit a search to your Recents list
Similar to how you can focus a search on a specific folder; it would be useful to limit a search to the items in your recents list.

Support parenthesis in search
For investigations or subject access requests, the search queries that we need to run tend to include many different options that require combinations of boolean operators AND and OR.
For instance I might need to search for user first name or last name or nichname combined with the topics for the search. The search would take this form ideally:
("A" OR "B" OR "C") AND ("D" OR "F").As currently parenthesis are not supported in search, I must run 6 distinct searches to get the desired results (A AND D, A AND F, B and D...) and this results in…
