Multiple folder Search options in Content Filters.
When we search content, we can only set a certain folder to search (with a tick box) as a condition.
However, we would like to select multiple folders in the Content Filter to have more specific results in order to refer file a in folder A and file b in folder B.4 votes -
Better searchability on assets
inside of a folder with hundreds of assets, it would be amazing to have the letters a-z on the left side so you can click on the letter that corresponds with the first letter in an assets title and go directly to those assets. For example, if you click on 'G'. all assets that start with the letter 'G' come up.
Currently you have to scroll. sometimes for a while to get to the proper file. When you have hundreds of assets within 1 folder it's laborious to get to the one you want!4 votes -
Email notifications based on saved search
Provide the ability for a user to save an arbitrary search query (including the use of Metadata templates if applicable) and be notified of new content that arrives in a Box folder when it matches that saved search.
This would immensely help our Box users be notified in real-time as we upload content that they are interested in. Otherwise, they have to periodically search the entire folder at some period of the day to find this new content of interest. Using the current notification capability that triggers on all uploads would be too much "noise" to the user; they need…

searching for users (external or managed)
Suggestions for improvements : search field for users (external or managed) should look for characters. For instance , if you type a domain name or name, you should be able to filter the (external or managed) users list according to the characters entered into the search field and look into both the name and email info if the characters can be found. We don't always know the exact email or name...

Access to file link from search results
When a search is executed in the browser, it is not possible to open a file in the search on another tab. The only option available seemingly is to open on the same tab. It is handy to manage the exploration through the search list to be able to either open a particular file or folder in the search list in a new tab, or copy the file link without having to create a share link to open file in a new tab.

Setting tags for each folder
For example, I would like to see the setting inherited by a specific folder and its subfolders, similar to the "Override default settings for this folder and all subfolders" in the email notification in the folder settings.
In a tenant with many end users, tags can be disorganized.
For example, if you try to create a tag for December, some users may find that there are many ways to describe the month, and when they try to search for a tag, they may not be able to find the desired tag.
For this reason, many tenants restrict the creation of…4 votes -

Search API for exact match using hash
If you have a local file and need to know if the file exists in Box, the filename search isn't reliable to find the exact match. For example, there could be many logo.jpg files. Since the sha1 of the files are known, it would be great to expose it to the search API to find the exact file match.
This would be very useful for tools that help users migrate to Box without creating many duplicates of files.4 votes -

Please change the specification to recognize "AND" when a word is separated from another word by a space.
In general, if we put a space between words when searching, Explorer, Google, etc., will do an "AND" search.
However, in the case of Box's search function, the same operation will result in an "OR" search.
Therefore, if we wish to use "AND" search, we must state "AND".https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696314
>Using this operator is not necessary as we implicitly interpret multi-word queries as OR unless another supported Boolean term is used.To avoid user confusion, please change the specification to recognize "AND" when a word is separated from another word by a space, as is the case on other sites.

Please add some items to the search function so that users can specify the priority.
The current search function displays files in order of relevance by default.
However, it is sometimes difficult to find the file one wants to look for in order of relevance, which affects business operations.
Please add some items to the search function so that users can specify the priority.
For example, it would be great if it is possible to select files created by me, files updated by me, modified date, created date, ABC order, etc.現在の検索機能は、デフォルトで関連性の高い順にファイルを表示します。
しかし、目的のファイルを関連性の高い順に探すことが困難な場合があり、業務に影響を及ぼしています。
検索機能にいくつかの項目を追加し、ユーザーが優先順位を指定できるようにしてください。
例えば、「自分が作成したファイル」「自分が更新したファイル」「更新日」「作成日」「ABC順」などが選択できれば嬉しいです。3 votes -
Box Search - Search for infixes and suffices, not only prefixes
While Box supports prefix matching on titles, Box does not support suffix (end of the word) matching in the title or body content, or infix (middle of the word) matching in the title or body content. For example, a search on “cal” would match results for a file named “California” but not “decal” or “recall”.

Better sorting by relevance with search terms
When I search for an exact file name, to find all copies of that file within a folder structure, the "See All Results" page does not put all the "hits" of that exact file name at the top of the list. I have to scroll down through many other files with partial hits in the name to find all copies. Why would it not sort by exact file names first, then partial file name matches, then contents ... ?

Adding recent folders into the "Recents" carousel would be a huge value add in working through current projects.

Search file contents for non-standard file types (e.g. py, R)
It would be a wonderful if Box could be adjusted to index and search the file contents for files beyond Microsoft Office and text files. For example, much of what I would like to search is in python or R scripts, so being able to index and search those files as well would be very helpful.
(it would also be very useful to search specific metadata field such as "name" or "type", like windows explorer enables)

Boolean search should generate results as part of type ahead query
Boolean search should generate results as part of type ahead query. Today, we can search for "text AND text2", but it will not generate results until the user submits the full query. This would improve usability.

Support infix (middle of the word) matching such as %ox%.
It would be more efficient if infix matching is available for at least metadata search, or even just metadata search and folder/file name search.

search spaces
I have trouble with searching for file names with numbers.
As an example: I have a folder called "AB123", and another called "AB 123".
A search for "123" returns "AB 123"
A search for "AB" returns both.I'd very much like it if "123" returned both.
This example is from a macbook, using box through a chrome browser
(The other option is to try to implement a new naming convention in my organisation - and get people to stick to it without a stray space or not messing it up! Taking the option for human error out would be far…
