While this is "under consideration" here's a thought how we would like to be able to use this feature as Box users through our firm:
- User friendly: perhaps add its availability to email clients (i.e.: outlook), just like the "attach from Box" feature, but instead being able to request files securely will be a huge impact
- When clients that are 'non-Box' users click on the link to upload files, they should be able to see it's from the firm they are accustomed to, for example, we should be able to customize the look of the URL it takes the client to. "File exchange, dropbox, etc.. takes them to a URL that says "Dropbox" or "file exchange", but it looks so generic, I could see people being scared to upload sensitive information to those portals.
- While Box offer a work around or similar feature, it can only be accessed through Box.com, right clicking on the settings and creating the links, then pasting it to the email client to provide a URL link or an email to send the attachment. It's so many clicks and most users either use the email client or box drive, which you can't retrieve those settings quickly. Most of our users forget their password and is so cumbersome to access Box.com for a simple setting. This feature request should be easily accessible and ready to use immediately.Hope this helps your consideration building this feature.

I work with applicants who are sending sensitive identification and financial data that we don't want them sending via email. Being able to send them a file request so that they upload the documents directly would be ideal. They are not yet members of our organization and would not necessarily be using Box otherwise. Making them create an account (even if free) is just an unneeded extra step.
