Generate report by file type
I want to be able to generate a report of folders and files including the file type for example video, word, excel , ppt...

Looking for the ability to see how many files of a certain type are in the environment, plus who owns them

Greetings BoxSupport, our enterprise would also see a major value to get this report type being described by Brad added, we too would like to be able to get a file total count of either all different file extensions or if search for certain file extensions to find there grand total.

Currently, there is no file type-based reporting in Box that can be done in a simple manner (aside from digging through the unwieldy Folders & Files report or trolling the usage logs).
This functionality would answer the following questions that an admin might have:
-- "Show me how many .xls and .xlsx files are currently stored in our Box environment"
-- "Show me a timeline for the total number of .xls and .xlsx files in Box over the past 6 months"
-- "Show me how many .xls and .xlsx files User X has uploaded in the past 6 months"
-- "Give me a report of all .xls and .xlsx files that are currently in Box"
