Grid View - Bring Back The Slider (adjusts the image size previews in Grid View)

Recent changes to the Grid View noted here, https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/10117683547539-List-view-and-grid-view-enhancements, have removed a key feature that had become part of my companies workflows.

Prior to this update, the Grid View had an slider next to the button we use to toggle between the Grid and List views. Today, that slider is gone.

Now the ONLY way to view the Grid is as thumbnails. My company of 500+ uses Box daily and a BIG part of our workflows relies on this feature. We never imagined this would be removed and it is causing us to discuss alternative options. We are an enterprise client with an unhealthy dependency for the feature at this point.

I keep asking myself, "why was this changed" trying to understand the underlying libraries that may have changed, and I cannot thing up a solid explanation other than this was a design mistake.

After reaching out to the support team on Twitter they suggested I write about our use-case here. They said this change was made to make the Web App more responsive between different screen types, and that images will change size based on the screen size.

I can confirm the image sizes DO NOT CHANGE based on the screen size. What does change are how many items are included on each row in the Grid based on the screen size.

From a front-end design perspective there was NO need to remove the slider...Because if you are wanting the images to change size based on the screen you can simply tell React or w/e front end library you are using to default to the users preference for the slider. If the slider is changed from the Box standard, and the selection is NOT full size, respond. Otherwise the responsiveness isn't even needed.

From a user POV I can tell you straight away that this design "Update" is not making Box better and in our case if this doesn't revert back to how it was previously we are going to have to look into other platforms. (Never imagined I would be writing that last line because WE LOVE BOX!).

    I came here to say the same thing! This update has been very disruptive to my workflow and strongly request the feature be brought back immediately.

    We were hoping that there was some new enhanced feature on the way that would replace the slider bar. If this is not the case, please bring back the slider ASAP as it was very useful for scaling up pictures and pdf files and was used daily. I can't imagine why this would have been removed.

    As a graphic design, it is tremendously frustrating to not be able to scale the images via the slider in grid view. Please bring it back.

    Please bring back the ability to choose the size of icons/images in grid view mode. This allows you to scroll through image files as large icons instead of having to go into Preview mode and click through one at a time. It save a ton of time and it has been a painful choice to remove this feature. Please put it back.

    Please bring back grid view slider. In my job, we have to review a lot of pdfs located in folders, and not having the ability to size up the files makes it hard to tell what file you are needing to review next due to all file names having similar starting document titles. This slows down our production time when we have to click on the file first, review it in there, then go back to see which file we need to be reviewing and keep repeating the steps of opening the quick view of each file instead of the previous way where we could upsize the file and see truly what we are working with.

    Agree with all the comments here. Removing the slider was a terrible move. Hoping Box reads these comments and brings it back quickly.

    My team and I relied on the grid view slider daily - getting rid of it was the worst idea ever. Please bring it back.

    Removing the grid view slider was an awful idea. It's much easier to adjust the size of the image and scroll than to have to click on the file and click on the files in sequence. It was one of the most convenient features, and was incredibly helpful when sifting through large amount of photos at large scale and discerning photo details.

    Our org moves through hundreds of inspection photos per day. The slider was incredibly useful. Eliminating it does not seem like a step forward. Hoping Box will bring it back.

    The update was described as an enhancement to the list and grid views, but unfortunately, it was an unusable update.
    We have to edit and process about 100 PDFs that are sent to my box folder every day, and we could get a rough idea of the contents by zooming in and out in the preview before editing. I would have to check the preview first, then double-click and go to work.
    Could you please reconsider this again? Please bring back the resize bar!

    if slider is to come back please make sure the filename remains visible. in old slider method the filename was often not visible making it very difficult to find the appropriate file

    Could not agree with this post more. Bring back the resize slider in grid view. Our organization used this feature all the time!

    As a volume photographer I HAVE to be able to see quickly my photos and when they are smaller than a postage stamp I have to open the previewer. This is eating up my time and the level of frustration is at MAX. I need to be able to adjust the size

    The removal of the slider significantly negatively impacts our established workflows and efficiency for our creative teams. PLEASE bring that functionality back as it is critical to our teams' success.

    It is very inconvenient that the "+" and "-" buttons that could be used in the grid view are gone, and the image cannot be enlarged or reduced. Contents were possible without clicking one by one. Please restore functionality
