Block root shared folder renaming
I found it very disappointing when every user with editor's permissions can rename (and probably even delete) root folders. This is the absolutely most typical scenario with shared folders, and everything from cheapest NAS to Azure Sharepoint can prevent renaming (or worse deleting) root folders.
I really miss the typical R/W user - Editor without permissions to delete/rename the root folder.

Allow authenticated Box app to control value of "uploader" field through API as the Upload Embed Widget seems to do
Related to https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778-help-shape-the-future-of-box/suggestions/35984452-email-address-given-in-upload-widget-available-for but this is for setting the email address as the Uploader (already collected by separate UI)

preview print
Allow the permission to just "view" & "print" files.
(However, you manage to do this)...Maybe it's as simple as having a tick button for a Previewer to also allow printing
...Currently, a Previewer can view and not print,
...a Previewer/Uploader can currently Preview and Upload (Print is meant to work here but is currently not an option despite permission tables saying it should)
...a Viewer can currently Preview, Print and Download.

Folder Integrations not available on All Files unless user is owner
We have an App Integration for Folders; Quick Scan. If a user has access to upload to a folder they can use Quick Scan from the Folder's More Actions, Integrations menu to scan a document directly into the folder.
It appears, if a user is the Owner of the folder, the Integration to Quick Scan appears when accessing the Folder's More Options from the All Files area. But, if the user is not the Owner, no Folder Integrations appear. The Folder Integrations always appear if the folder More Options is accessed from a sub-folder, i.e. not the All Files area.

shared link password
Currently there is an opportunity for Shared Links with a password to be brute force broken, as there are not any controls in place to disable after unsuccessful attempts. Two options to handle this are:
- Implement the configuration in the Shared Link Password protection option to set the number of unsuccessful attempts
- Implement an audit event that documents an unsuccessful Shared Link Password attempt, so that a custom implementation can monitor the unsuccessful attempts, and react accordingly.23 votesWe'll be evaluating improvements to Shared Links later this year and will provide an update at that time.

Multi-user and automatic uploads
Make box access suitable for multi user computers and have mechanism for automatically uploading data.
Use case: Lab equipment used by multiple users producing large amounts of data, automatically uploading this to box so as to limit required user interaction and keep local storage in check. Modern equipment can produce large amounts of data and being able to upload this automatically would help with data management. Requiring user intervention to manage their data is less practical with a very large user base so automating this process would again help with this process.

Partial file writing API
I want the API feature that updates only a part of the file .
Currently, I download entire file, and then write and upload it.
It is inefficient when if only want a few changes.1 vote -

Enable version history disabling at the folder level
Our business requires the ability to disable version history for some clients who require that no past versions of files exist. We need the ability to disable versioning for part of the business, while retaining it for other parts. We can't be alone in this...

Including the original path to a file that was deleted.
It would make it easier to identify what files need to be restored if the original full path of the file was included in the trash folder and that information could be used in a sort/search.

Python example for "create upload session" is wrong
The Python sample for "Create upload session" seems wrong:
What you provided is:
filesize = 26000000
uploadsession = client.file('11111').createuploadsession(file_size)But it should be:
client.folder('11111').createuploadsession(filesize, filesize).Please check and confirm.

Faster uploads by allowing to select UDP for the upload protocol
For faster upload speed, allow users to select option to utilize UDP for the upload protocol, instead of TCP.

Ability to restore folder structures to point-in-time
Similar to version history, we would like the ability to select a folder, folder structure, or subset of folders/files and restore all content therein to a specific point in time. OneDrive recently released a histogram with a timeline slider feature allowing admins to restore select content to a specific period in time. For users moving from on-prem or used to backups, this provides confidence in giving the right access levels to users to get work done with the ability to revert content/structures if needed in case of accidental moved/edited or corrupted content.

Improve management of pending invitations via API
As we continue to build and customize the collaboration mechanism we found it difficult to manage pending invitations. When calling your API api.box.com/2.0/folders<folder_id>/collaborations it returns approved collaborators in the “accessibleby” object but when it return PENDING collaborators the “accessibleby” object is null, but there’s status “pending” on this collaborator. We would imagine it would capture the email address of that pending collaborator. Seeing this is capable in your public domain to show the pending collaborator with an email address would be very useful to create modules to manage pending collaborators (e.g. resending the invitation, update the email address,…

FTP should support other authentication methods other than simple password
One of the most important things to understand is whether auth support / options match up with real life requirements and usage patterns

Folder Integration App can't use API to upload file to a folder if user has Uploader permission
- I set the various Uploader permissions (Uploader, Viewer Uploader, Previewer Uploader) on a folder, but was not able to use our Folder Integration Quick Scan app to upload a scanned file to those folders.
- I had to use Owner/Editor permissions to upload a scanned file through our application and the Box API.
Why is Box not letting our application upload a file when the Uploader permission is set on a folder?
Thanks.

Add "Last Accessed Date" as a file property
Many cleanup/archival processes could be run via the API if this date was quickly accessible. Currently, one needs to look at events or reports to determine this date which is not feasible at scale for reports and Events API only goes back one year.

Add ability to batch rename multiple files
I'd like to be able to select all contents of a folder (ex. images taken by a particular photographer at an event) and standardize all file names (ex. EventPhotographer Name (1), EventPhotographer Name (2),...)
This is simple to do in Windows Explorer, but I really do not want to download and then re-upload for something so minor!4 votes -
Use file size limits of Box Enterprise account when free users edit/upload to enterprise folders
Ability for free/lite users who are external collaborators in a folder to edit/upload content into a managed folder, even if the file size is above the free/lite limit. For example: Company A has an enterprise Box license and Company B does not, but uses free/lite accounts to collaborate in folders with Company A. When Company B needs to collaborate/edit large files in Company A’s folder, they can only do so if the size of the file is below the free/lite account limit. For large files, they have to download the file, edit it on their desktop, then email back to…
