Support infix (middle of the word) matching such as %ox%.
It would be more efficient if infix matching is available for at least metadata search, or even just metadata search and folder/file name search.

search spaces
I have trouble with searching for file names with numbers.
As an example: I have a folder called "AB123", and another called "AB 123".
A search for "123" returns "AB 123"
A search for "AB" returns both.I'd very much like it if "123" returned both.
This example is from a macbook, using box through a chrome browser
(The other option is to try to implement a new naming convention in my organisation - and get people to stick to it without a stray space or not messing it up! Taking the option for human error out would be far…

Search API for Tags
The Box search endpoint should be able to query based on Tags.
The Web App is able to do this already:
https://obfuscated.app.box.com/folder/0/search?tags=SelectThat search returns tagged results as expected.
The postman API collection offers a search endpoint example with:
https://{{api.box.com}}/2.0/search?query=salesAn error occurs when changing that to:
https://{{api.box.com}}/2.0/search?tags=SelectThis should more closely match the web ui.

Setting tags for each folder
For example, I would like to see the setting inherited by a specific folder and its subfolders, similar to the "Override default settings for this folder and all subfolders" in the email notification in the folder settings.
In a tenant with many end users, tags can be disorganized.
For example, if you try to create a tag for December, some users may find that there are many ways to describe the month, and when they try to search for a tag, they may not be able to find the desired tag.
For this reason, many tenants restrict the creation of…4 votes -
Please make shared links searchable to allow for quicker file access.
I am a photographer/image manager for an e-commerce company and many of our manufacturers provide their digital assets through shared Box links. However, there are thousands of images and folders to manually comb through to find the correct images for products.
Most manufacturers include part numbers product names in their image titles, so simply introducing a search feature in shared links would save hours of time finding the correct images!
Thanks for your consideration.

Show full filename in Box Search
Box Search cuts off long file names. If the file name is prefaced with the date or other info, the information one actually needs from the file name may be hidden from the user.
This can be solved by making the Box Search window larger, making it as large as the longest filename, or by showing the filename when a user mouses over the filename or file icon, or when a user uses the arrow keys to select (but not yet open) a file in the Box Search results.

New Files take 10 minutes to appear in the search (Content Explorer)
It takes ~10 minutes for a newly added file to appear in the search of the Content Explorer UI Element. In the meantime, if you attempt to search for that file based on the name, it displays no results, making it look like a bug. It can take even longer if the servers are busy (it took ~20 minutes for a file I uploaded to appear in a search one time)
Please look for ways to reduce the turnaround on this. A suggestion: the file should be available to search by name right away, if it takes ~10 minutes to…

Marker based paging for search
It would be great if the public search API supported marker based paging to avoid duplicates coming back in search results. Currently we're only able to search based on limit and offset but that's not stateful so each "page" or results may have overlap with previous results. I believe there are other marker based paging APIs for Box. This would bring search in line with how we handle paged results elsewhere.

Tag List - Would be handy to be able to bring up a list of all used at an y time, to keep it maintained throughout
Seems strange that such a simple thing is not available

file content search
My company has elected to encrypt all box information which I do agree with. However this disables a major function of being able to search all file content. If a user is able to read encrypted data then the user should be able to build encrypted search indexes for file content. This is a major flaw that should be corrected by box.

Folder Hyperlink to link to Page X of Y within folder that holds the actual document.
When using Search and click folder hyperlink, the result should link to Page X of Y within folder that holds the actual document. This will allow user to see associated TAGS.

I want to be able to find files containing specific text that DO NOT have a specified metadata template applied
I want to be able to find files containing specific text that DO NOT have a specified metadata template applied. This will help with implementing Box Governance Classification, and support compliance/audits going forward.

Search contents of Box notes (or other documents) even when encryption is enabled
I understand that if data is encrypted outside of Box (as is likely the case for any enterprise user), the search functionality for Box is limited to file names only. Can Box add support for search within documents (Box notes at a minimum, but ideally other document types) even in the case where the enterprise user has encryption enabled? Not having this functionality makes search useless for many of our use cases as a large development team.

search filenames using leading wildcards
Box.com should allow search for filenames of the files that Box creates due to conflicts. The beginning of the filename is unknown but filename ends in email.address@company.com.
Currently, Box.com cannot find all filenames ending in email.address@company.com.
So there is no way to find the files that Box itself has created due to conflicts. We have tens of files scattered on our server that Box created due to network anomalies, and no way to serach for them and reconcile them.2 votes -

Full text search malfunction
I can not do full text search on my folder. Does it take a little bit time to be ready to search? Or double bytes character is not supported?

Search, File type dropdown UX
Under search, file type selection, the dropdown does not go away once I select/click a file or folder type. I feel like I have to click away from that dropdown to add any additional filters like that I want to search within the current folder. However, as soon as I click away from the dropdown, the search executes and shows results, without allowing for me to be able to specify that I only wanted to search within the current folder.

The search tool could look up for specific words/sentences inside documents.
When we need to search for a specific word/sentence inside a document, the search tool does not show any results. It is only searching for the word/sentence on the title of the document.
It would be very helpful if it could search inside the documents and also bring it as a result.6 votes -
Right now, Box's search engine is kinda useless
So, i contacted Box through chat to ask why the search engine wasn't looking for the specific input i searched for, and among other things i was told that the engine will look for files/folders which match ANY of the words in your input and has no capability of looking for files containing ALL of the words searched for which most search engine have, be it web search or OS search.
So, here's the problem, we have around 10.000 files uploaded to box, and lots of them share several words which indicate the client's name or what the file contains.…
