Create Linux client for Box Drive

Thanks for your feedback. We unfortunately don't have plans to support a Linux client for Box Drive at this time.

Education user here. Institution provides box but no client for linux effectively renders it useless.

EDU user here. Our institution has a contract with box. A client for linux would be very nice.

Having a Linux client in 2019 should be the norm. There should not be any excuses.

You need to develop a Linux client! We shouldn't have to resort to third party apps to fill your product roadmap gaps. Many enterprise users use all environments across the different groups. It's been on your radar for a few years now - come on!

Yet another user asking for a Box Sync client on Linux. I second the other users' comments that Box is used as the preferred storage service in multiple research institutions. This is certainly the case in the university at which I work, where the majority of researchers (on engineering and technology-related fields, at least) use Linux on their campus desktops and often their personal computers as well. A Box Linux client would be very helpful to those of us who work collaboratively on projects across different platforms.

Another Linux user that would like to see a Box Sync App. Windoze has slowed my system so much, my main computer now runs Linux Mint, in addition to two other desktops and a laptop in my home.

A Linux client is needed for our division to adopt it's use over Dropbox.

It is painful to run a Windows VM just to use Box Drive in order to sync Box content.
I find it questionable that Box uses Open Source whenever it saves them cost but completely ignores the Open Source community by not providing a Linux client.

We need a Box Linux Client. I am no longer recommending Box at all to my clients as I can not support them as many are starting to move to Linux Desktops. If we can get a Linux sync client for just about every major storage solution out there, there is no reason Box shouldn't have Linux Client as well.

Please add support for a Linux client.

We need a linux client if you plan on deprecating WebDAV

as soon as you deprecate WebDav every linux user will need a Drive/Sync client. At least for Ubuntu

Linux client is *urgently* needed!

Dropbox is much more attractive than Box, because it is crossplatform

Box, please provide a Linux Client.
What is sad is that it is very likely that the majority of box's infrastructure is itself running Linux.
At the same time they are solely focussing on enterprise clients, which in their mind only run Windows. It's a miracle they even have a Mac client.
They completely fail to notice that more and more corporations have more and more Linux workstations (and not only on Engineering ones).
Add to that, that with snaps/flatpaks/AppImages it is easier than ever to maintain a linux application than ever before. It is clear from their previous comments, that regardless how many votes we provide, they simply won't do it and won't provide any reasonable explanation.
Thus the only thing we can do and have our companies vote with our money and thus choose other vendors who have proper cross platform support and are more communicative. (BTW. Google with their Drive and other products is in the same situation and, even though built on Linux, don't provide Linux support.)

I work for a major research university that uses Box as it's primary cloud storage solution for faculty, staff and students. I know that the majority of the research labs use linux and more staff are switching to linux as their primary OS. Not having feature parity in linux is a major issue that is only growing within our institution. As it stands now, we may be forced to migrate solutions in the future if Box is unable to keep up with competitors and provide at least a minimum set of features for all major operating systems.
As a side note, even Microsoft is starting to promote linux on the desktop. I am sure they are already working to improve their support for linux beyond the onedrive that already exists with instructions on how to configure and run onedrive on linux to sync local files. Just a thought but if I was working at Box I would be getting nervous about future relevance in this space... but I am just a developer, what do I know. -

How hard is it to appreciate that anyone whose computer runs on Linux (as opposed to Windows or MacOS) would have *exactly the same* use case as a Windows or MacOS user. We want to be able to have Box storage appear as a seamless part of our computer's filesystem, so we can access files on it in the same way as Windows or MacOS users can.
If Dropbox can make this work, so can Box. -

Box.com removed its webdav service, which kills the connection between Linux and Box. Please provides an app for Linux or give us webdav service back.
