Hide folders from Box Drive
hide a set of folders from box drive while leaving them available on Box for office and Box online

Users sometimes move and delete whole folders by accident in File Explorer. Issue when hundreds of people have the same folders synced locally with Box Drive.

+1 Just like OneDrive (and all the others) can.

Users need to be able to show/hide them themselves.
I also think it would be more convenient if co-owners and administrators could force users to show/hide them.

This is a huge hole in the Box Drive feature set when compared to all other similar apps including Dropbox, OneDrive, Egnyte, etc.
Please add this feature ASAP.

If the folders displayed on the box drive can be shown or hidden according to the user's needs, the following problems can also be avoided.
When using Box Drive, all folders on the Box are displayed in Box Drive, so there is a risk of accidentally moving folders or files or performing incorrect file operations because you cannot distinguish between internal and external folders.
Also, if you accidentally grab a folder with the mouse and move a folder or file to another folder, you may lose track of where you have moved it.If the range to be displayed by BoxDrive can be set on the WebGUI, it can prevent unnecessary folders from being displayed and reduce the risk of problems caused by the operation.

This will be beneficial so that the source computer is not bogged down trying to update lots of files or folders the user doesn't want to see locally. Dropbox currently this feature in their app.

I really dislike that Box Drive on the Mac makes absolutely everything visible in finder. I liked when I could choose which folders synced to the desktop/laptop for offline use AND I didn't have to see the other folders that I was not syncing. I liked that I could essentially hide those folders that I didn't need and when on the rare occasion that I did need one of those, it was easy to go online for it. Now it's such a mess, and I can't see which folders are mine and which belong to others that I just share.

Very annoying to handle around huge number of files, way not to add an option not to present it? it's elementary...

Does anyone at Box actually use this product?
Hard to believe this is a trivial to implement five year old request with 500+ votes and it still doesn't exist. Managing Box is incredibly painful due to this. I have THOUSANDS of shared folders all polluting my box drive and no way to get rid of them.

I just accidentally dragged my main personal folder to one of the shared EXTERNAL folder that I have Editor access to in Box Drive's main folder. It does not ask for any confirmation for moving items from non-collaborative to collaborative (even external) folder. I pressed ctrl+z to 'get back' for folder but it did not register to Box server. If I could hide unwanted folders that I have access to, I could've prevented it from happening or keep the damage at a reasonable level. I consider it as a potential security flaw that may lead to much worse consequences.

I have same issue; during the years several folders were been shared with me and now ony few of them could be useful to be available on my file manager (as "online only").
What is synced (available Offline) for sure I need and only few of not synced (available online only).
Then would be really useful switch on/off the visibility on File Explorer. -

Why is this "Under consideration" after 2 years? It appears as the second Top idea in your site, after the Linux client for Box drive, which you do not plan to implement. Why is nobody working on this and why it is not already implemented? How many comments are necessary in these two years? Obviously, we will not forget about that future and continue requesting it!

Is there an update on this request? Is this feature still being considered after two years? It would make so many people's lives so much easier to navigate!

As an admin, I would love the capability to specify what folders can be accessed in Box Drive. I currently do not allow Box Drive in my org specifically since I can't control that.

This is a long overdue update. Box Sync was great with this and my whole team would appreciate this function of having only specific synced folders/files viewable on our local computers.

I have folders that I can't remove myself from because they're shared with a group, but I don't want to see them

I cannot find my files in finder because it's cluttered by everyone else's files that have recently been updated.
